Bettina's best season was 1982 when she won 3 tournaments (including the German Open played on clay) and reached the semis of Wimbledon. 1986 was a comeback season for Bettina after dealing with injuries and an inner ear condition in 84-85.

I like the dress - I think it sort of turns the tennis into entertainment - quite showbiz! As for Bettina Bunge - I don't know what her best result was -- but she seems an accomplished player. She plays serve and volley on clay and is quite powerful. Eva Pfaff (also around at that time) played much the same.

I was a big fan of Bunge's stylish game, it's rare to see someone who has her kind of flowing strokes. I saw her play at the Mahwah tournament near where I grew up in NJ, when she lost a shocker to Leanne Harrison in the final. She was famous for her serene sliced backhand, but I see here her topspin was quite a weapon, too. Much more of a natural tennis player than Evert, but the American has the technique, stroke consistency and, probably most important, the mental toughness to be the top. I later lived in Indonesia, and Yayuk Basuki's beautiful backhand reminds me of Bunge's, as did the play of Gorratechugui.

Why does the referee say "second service" after each missed first serve? You only say that for lets.

evert didn't play well due to her injury.. and i believe wouldn't play the rest of the year.. the only reason she played this year fed's cup was to support martina coming back to czechoslovakia and to win the fed cup with her for the u.s.

True. There's hardly anything Chris doesn't do well. That costume sure could have looked even worse if it were on say, Pam Shriver or Zina Garrison *shudders*.

I'm one of Evert's biggest fans, but I wasn't crazy about the outfit, either. My best guess is, she was wanting to stick with her original Fed Cup outfit (or one of the first she wore for Fed Cup), because it definitely was too short and dated, but her game was as beautiful as ever, anyway!

The American uniform Chris wears is just butt ugly. 2 flags on the upper thighs??? What that designer knows about fashion design could scar people for life!

Not a great match by Evert. Lucky she was only playing Bunge.
