Close at the finish line, but only on account of how he accelerated with 350 metres to go. I've watched loads of good sprints in my time; mostly all are exciting, but this came from being slightly boxed in with 500m to go. The acceleration is just so wonderful. Great effort by Azizulhasni Awang too but the boss is back

this years final with Awang taken bronze with his legs in such a state goes to show how much he never gave up on anything. although i think chris hoy may just have him beet untill he retires. but after Hoy retires Awang will be breaking hoys records

the thing that gets me about hoy is how he absolutly gives it everything hes got and slams his pedals down literally pulling himself into the down stroke

There's actually a video on here somewhere. Cav and Hoy head to head, both on the track and road. Unsurprisingly, on the road, Cav pounded hoy and won by miles. But on the track Hoy did the same to him. Cycling's different disciplines are non comparable, otherwise Sam Pilgrim would be racing keirin too.

Well your strategy is always going to go hand in hand with your athletic prowess. Because Hoy is faster/more powerful this win is less impressive? I think he used his power masterfully, especially considering how early he took off. I call that very impressive and enjoyable. The Keirin can be about whatever the hell it wants, a win is going to be impressive whatever the manner. If anything, if it is about more than just athletic prowess, then a win by just that is even more impressive.
