Chris Lord-Alge gained notoriety while working at Unique Recording Studios, New York City, in the 1980s for his mixing on James Brown’s “Gravity” album (which included the hit song “Living in America”), the “Rocky IV” soundtrack, Prince’s “Batman” soundtrack, Joe Cocker’s “Unchain My Heart” album, Chaka Khan’s “Destiny” album, Carly Simon’s “Coming Around Again” album, and Tina Turner’s “Foreign Affair” album, as well as 12-inch remixes of Madonna’s “La Isla Bonita”; the Rolling Stones’ “Too Much Blood”; and Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing in the Dark,” “Cover Me,” and “Born in the USA.”

@@TM42 To that end, when CLA is shitting on a mouse and PC versus a large console, YES, hands on is best, but you can fit that HUGE console inside that laptop and create automations to achieve largely the same outcome. He knows and is comfortable with a console mixer. Some are better suited due to their own comfortability with a all digital interface.

CLA is real good, but what is important to say as well is its easier to be a great mixer when you work with real good takes or recordings. In our mediocre home studios mixing badly recorded tracks is always harder to get good final results in no time no matter how your ears are trained:)

This is very true. But also it's sort of good everyone has to go through the "fix it in the mix"-phase. You get to know the tools and tricks inside and out.

That's why I use reasons they have the SSL mixer and I use hardware mimic plugins and i run it through a twin apollo PC and I'm getting a 1996 death row sound.And also just got mixbus 32c and I was blow away how I'm getting a 1990 analog sound in my home studio wait correction my laptop 💻 studio.

Seems like a commercial for SSL. Good info here but not sure how many people can afford a setup like that. And considering how many good mixes I've heard "using a mouse", I'd say that that setup is a bit overkill. And lastly, everytime I see these instructional sort of mix videos, it's always a huge bombastic blaster song that's being demonstrated. Not a lot of dynamics at all in that tune. Its just LOUD.

One have to use the tools which suit their workflow the best. Even though in some videos showed he can do mixes with a mouse and a keyboard as well, doesnt mean he neither like or want to work that way.
