I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin in the late 70's-early 80's. I went to a high school that was all white when I graduated I moved to a big city. I got to be good friends with a black guy at work. We went out drinking one night and he pointed out certain people and explained the difference between Black People VS. N***az. Fast forward about 10 years and I saw this Chris Rock comedy special. I was like "Holy Sh*t" it was almost word for word how my friend explained it.

Wait a minute… if GenXers aren’t offended by anything, then when were the sensitive-ass parents who are bringing up today’s soft children born? Wouldn’t they be GenXers? You make it seem like we went through life with no bother from parents about heavy metal, or hip hop. You make it seem like parents weren’t offended by video games, or Madonna. Are you saying that families listened to those comedy albums you listed? Like, the PG-13 rating was made by sensitive-ass GenX parents who pressured Hollywood. Then, in the 90s, parents were offended that the PG-13 Batman movies were too violent! I just don’t remember a time in my 50+ life where people weren’t offended, or complaining about something trivial. In the 70s, it was braless women on sitcoms, in the 60s it was Elvis dancing, George Carlin swearing, and Barbara Eden showing her belly button. EVERYONE comes from a generation where people were freaking out. There is NOTHING special about GenX. We are just as guilty, no matter how selective our memories are. Remember the “Satanic Panic”? Come on! My parents wouldn’t even let me look at a D&D book, let alone play! The same generation of kids that I grew up with turned out to be the generation of parents who told their kids to not read “Harry Potter”. It’s a stupid cycle that never ends, and no generation is exempt from.

Watch the John Lennon interview from the 1970s on the Dick Cavett show where he reads a letter from congressmen Ron Dellums. No one ever put it in perspective better. As a white man, I feel the same way. It comes down to the simple fact that there are good people and bad people of every race. Some black people deserve to be called the N-word just like some white people deserve the same. Unfortunately, there’s not a word with the same impact against Whites as the N-word against blacks. I kinda wish there were, it would be an even playing field. Although both should only be used in rare circumstances.

Sounds like a very urban view from someone who's never been outside a blue state. Red state America is full of idyllic middle class suburban and rural sprawl. People living well, getting along with their neighbors and enjoying life without all the crime and violence. People who pay taxes, obey the law and work for a living. And we have city people who like to pretend that the world outside their city is filled with decrepit, dirty farmers living in trailers. Nothing could be farther from the truth. That's the kind of mythology spread to keep certain people from leaving bad places... to keep them confined. Think about it.

Apt caddy corner had trash people move in the same shade as me. Garbage everywhere, no respect for your own crib, trash. Moving because I can afford to, and for that I’m grateful my hard work paid off. This resonates with all cultures because it’s true. This can be translated into most IndoEuropean languages and every one gets it.

He gained so much respect from everybody.

I remember watching 'Bring the Pain' years ago at a friend's house in the mid-late 90's. I still feel it is the best standup performance in the history of comedy. From the intro with the camera pointed at his feet as he walks up to the stage while showing a montage of posters of the comedy legends that performed on the same stage, to the mic drop finish at the end of the show with that epic rant about a guy trying to prove he wasn't cheating on his woman, was so spectacular it actually gave me goosebumps lol

I love this skit, and tried it on my white friends about a decade after it dropped (lived in Japan for over 35 years) , and found out that a white boy can't even cite a black comedian, or he's going to be called a racist. It was my first lesson on how America has jumped the shark. If it's okay for blacks, but not okay for whites, thats racist as fuck!

Yup. I just tell them "youre a part of the problem", because they are. Treating black people like they ride the short bus, like they cant help being the way that they are, is just as racist as how the KKK think of them. Just because a smile and a pat on the back comes with the racism changes nothing. Tired of the soft racism of low expectations.
