They did see how good Brick Purdy was in practice, getting 1-2 reps TOTAL per practice, and it was enough that they ate the $2 million in guaranteed money that they had just given Nate Sudfeld. What no team can ascertain in a practice is how a rookie is going to respond in a game. Peyton Manning threw three INT's in his first game. Brock Purdy threw three touchdowns and ran for another, with ZERO INT's!

Chris is spot-on! “Veteran Eyes!” That is why Brock from the beginning looked like a veteran beyond his youth. He just plays with a look of experience! Trey always looked like a car is speeding at him with high beams on-Trey always looks scared, uncomfortable! He never gave me a sense of relief when he played. Sam plays like he’s experienced too, it’s b/c he is experienced unlike Trey.

I had to stop watching, I was getting so much cringe for Stats. Chris absolutely is owning him here and is absolutely spitting the truth that these hard headed Lance stans are. Kyle Shanahan is a top 3 head coach in this league and what he has accomplished in SF in his tenure from taking over a dog shit team is remarkable. Purdy is the future of SF and it really is unfortunate for Trey Lance. Kyle missed on Trey and it’s ok because Purdy is there. The 49ers are stacked and will continue to compete for a super bowl

Before Brock got hurt I saw him looking like a future Joe Montana. I lived in the Bay area from 1979 to 2022. I remember the awesome version of the 49ers. Brock was the best thing since the 80's and 90's that I have seen since. I was horrified when he got injured. I have been praying for him, the team, and the fans that he will return 100% and continue where he left off. He is already awesome as a young QB. I really think he can be a great QB like Joe did. He deserves everybodies respect and admiration.

the real difference about purdy was that being able to learn the hardest offensive play calling system in football......ther qb that was at iowa his last year didnt look anything like the qb who came into the game as a 3rd string that came into the game for the 49ers. being a smart and coachable player is the 2 biggest home runs for a qb that has good coaches can get rid of the bad and insert the good. he still has to fully learn and understand why kyule is doing what he is doing and how the play should develop. ive noticed on the shorter routes he doesnt have the timing down for the routes to allow the yac and yards after contact to happen

If Brock won all of his games last year and the Super Bowl, these same people would be saying “it should be an open competition with Trey, Trey would have been just as good, and Trey has the higher ceiling, Brock is a dink and dunker, Brock will never repeat what he did last year, Trey has a bigger arm, Trey is the future, Brock is a good backup not a true starter, ect…

@@imwithyou38 and that’s another thing the Lance diehards refuse to accept, that injuries are a common occurrence in football (they happen every week and in almost every game) and those injuries completely change a player’s career! If a player can’t stay on the field, then his overall value plummets regardless of his talents or ceiling. They act like all the things that change any other NFL player’s careers simply should not be ever considered when evaluating Trey Lance (his potential nullifies everything else). Trey has been given multiple chances to succeed, but injuries (shit happens) have kept him off the field. When Brock was given his chance, he was ready and played incredibly at the highest of all levels! He raised the bar to a level that even with all of Treys “potential” he couldn’t exceed! But they want to simply ignore what Brock actually accomplished and say he actually sucks and can never improve in any way! The ONLY real question mark for Purdy, is if he can comeback from his injury 100% and if he is injury prone. But their guy Lance has these very same question marks! They are not fans of the 49ers and the team, they are only fans of one player (they place Trey’s success above the team)! With Brock as QB we averaged 35 pts a game and never lost (and Brock turned alot of broken plays into a positive)! But that’s not good enough, it HAS to be Trey who succeeds as the QB of the 49ers?

Love Sims take on QBs. He’s replaying his own career, strengths and weaknesses. Purdy has a high speed microprocessor and elite feet. That gives him a higher ceiling than Jimmy G, and reps will bring even more important growth. Interceptions come from predictability. Here’s a tip. That applies to both where the receiver is headed to, and the launch point. Purdy provides a variety of pass origins and any DB will tell you the path of the ball is what you calculate. Purdy is a point guard. So was Montana

One thing for sure is Brock and Kyle are going to have to make some adjustments to his game. Dallas did an excellent job in that playoff game staying home and forcing him to his left. We'll see if there's any sophomore slump. I like him for sure and hopes he takes his game up a notch. It's going to be interesting guys to say the least.
@Based_investor
@Based_investor Жыл бұрын
Dallas was also the best pass rushing team in the NFL (before you say philly, DAL led the league in pressures. Sacks are completely random and highly dependent on the opposing QB). Dallas was the test and they were destroying the right side of the niners line. Put Jimmy in that game and they are lucky to put up 10-13 points. And of course if Trey is in that game they probably don't even score because he absolutely can not move the chains or put points on the board.

honestly when it comes to qb, 2 playoff games that one of them was the 3rd ranked def on the road and they had 2 weeks to study evey possible thing about purdy while having 1 of the other elite pass rushers in the league also. the difference when i think about purdy is that he is an extremely coachable and very smart qb who loves football to death......dude was watching tape on an i pad sitting in his locker alone while every one else was talking or getting interviewed. there is several videos of him doing that. ive never seen that level of urgency to learn more about w.e he is watching. hes had 7 games played and he now has seen to be able to process also learn from it. for all we know that he has the brain of someone like peyton manning(even if this were true and is most likely a reach) who is the only other person i could think of how probably sat by himself with a tableor lap top wat hing tape while everyone else is doing the have game thing. kyles system makes it nearly impossible to have a sophmore like slump plus all the weapons to guard.....as long as your arm is talented enough there will be a person open

Then he plays in a monsoon with a entire new o line, deebo out of shape from a hold out and toss dwelley and Jeff Wilson jr again. Has us up 10-0 late into the 3rd quarter even tho deebo fumbled the ball in the redzone and our defense gave up 3 scores off blown coverages in less than a quarter. He's absolutely right about Trey not being a natural thrower. This isn't a hate post, I've been a big fan of his since mid-2020 season. But I think most people who watch Trey can sense that unnaturalness like you would any other unnatural thing. It makes it uncomfortable to watch him throw, you feel something's weird even if you can't point it out. Conscious or subconscious, that is why so many people have written him off or are downright disgusted by him. It's really the solution to the entire Trey Lance mystery. The only weird thing is how the 9ers missed it or underestimated it.

The reason scouts didn't grade Brock Purdy higher is due to the premise they are using to grade quarterbacks. Scouts are looking for the prototypical QB mold. Brock Purdy doesn't fit into the prototypical QB mold. Not only a prototypical QB mold, but the Superman QB mold. Brock Purdy scores in the 90s percentile for agility. We see his agility play out of the field. Brock Purdy scores in the 90s and 95 percentile for cognitive processing. Again, we see this play out on the field. Brock Purdy has innate personality "traits" and "temperament" that enable him to perform well under pressure. This cannot be taught, learned or developed because it happens naturally. It's innate. Compared with the prototypical QB Superman mold, Brock Purdy doesn't have a "strong arm" and he doesn't run like a Superman QB, so forget him. He's only, so-so. But, the scouts got it wrong because Brock Purdy's strengths work very well with Kyle Shanahan's schemes. And when Kyle's schemes aren't working, Brock Purdy is able to improvise on the fly. Brock Purdy doesn't fit the prototypical QB mold but this doesn't mean in he can't play. The scouts were wrong.

It takes a couple years to really fully return from an ACL tear. Which he sustained while escaping the pocket. Then, he had the ankle injury 2 years ago. Between those injuries, he was never the same as that 2017 version. And nearly no sports "journalist" or analyst talks about that. And his injury last year was because he was escaping the pocket again. It's like these idiots forget this, or just don't say it because it would ruin their narrative.

Wholeheartedly agree that Brock has room to improve and he's already light-years ahead in temperament. I found the comment I had made where I included some numbers about what I was saying: It's almost as if any competent QB can run a Kyle Shanahan offense. Brock Purdy is just willing to throw the ball into the end zone or take a deep shot every once in a while. It's why I was so keen for Trey Lance to get up to speed. In limited action, Lance's production is close to Garoppolo's time in San Francisco (4.9% to 5.0% TD rate, 2.9% to 2.6 % INT rate, 7.8 to 7.1 yd/att). Purdy's greatest skill is realizing he should throw TDs to Kittle in the end zone which gives him a 7.6% TD rate. If you reduce Kittle's TD rate to pre-Purdy levels, Purdy's stats would be 4.9% TD rate, 2.4% Int Rate, 8.1 yd/att, just like Garoppolo and Lance. Good for Purdy being able to play as well as he has, but this really is a plug and play offense. If a QB is composed enough to settle down and smart enough to understand where the wide open guys are going to be, they will be successful running Kyle Shanahan's offense.

Had no idea who Rob Guerra was before this video popped up but holy crap this is the problem with some of the wanna be football analysts. Whining about the HC not picking the guy they like and ignoring the fact the team has been to 3 of the last 4 NFC Championships and a SB. It's about winning period. KS has done that more than most. He knows what the hell he's doing. He gave the team to Lance in year 2 even though he'd done nothing to warrant that kind of faith and we still have people like this guy complaining about Lance not getting a fair shake. Get over it. If he's the best guy he'll play if he isn't he won't. End of story

I just went back and watched Sam Darnold COLLEGE highlights. He has a strong arm... I wouldn't say he moves better than Brock Purdy. But his release is nice and he puts heat on his passes. I don't understand the Kyle Shanahan hate... I really do believe that comes from Grant Cohn. If you research the 49ers record history you will see obvious results. Bill Walsh, George Seifert, Steve Mariucci, Jim Harbaugh and Kyle Shanahan all have given success to the 49ers. It's simple. Do your research my fellow Faithful

I'll tell you what happened to JimmyG. When he tore his ACL in 2020. He eventually healed niceley but I think in his head he was afraid of getting hurt again. He returned somewhat or bit more timid the following season and Shannahan didnt trust him. Sometimes plays need a sports Psycologist to check them out. Well, thats my opinion. I dont think JimmyG even realized it.

Chris you are my favorite always love to hear what u have to say and once again I think your right on the money sir- with that being said I hope it stays true with your view on darnold. I was not happy at all when we got him. I don't think he's a good qb but he has shown flashes of potential that I hope he can live up to now with the great coaching of Mike. As far as lance idk that we're going to have the patience to fix all his issues. Like myself I think John and Mike were just too anxious and bit on too small a sample size. Simply put trey just doesn't have the experience he's not had anything in way of real playing time in his career going back to college even. I tell u this though without shoring up the o line we're in trouble. I hear this I hear that about trey but I couldn't see if any of it was true bc the kids running for his life or already on his ass from the snap. We like to ground and pound and play action can't do any of that if can't win in the trenches

Dont you ever compare Brock to trash 🗑️ again. Niners average 30+ point a game with Brock. With jimmy glass, you get a field goal. With Purdy you get a touchdown. Purdy also doesn’t throw boneheaded int.

No way you can justify keeping Trey to have a newly signed Sam as a starter over him. I’m sorry but you can’t tell me 7 years of boneheaded decision making will disappear in a 5 months off season. Especially if Sam is not brought in to be the guy! Can’t say Geno bc he sat FOR YEARS before we seen. Alex Smith was championed as THE GUY by Harbaugh. Daniel Jones was treated the same way with Dabol. It’s a clear bias….. they are literally saying Trey can’t improve/ incompetent! While saying Kyle is so much a genius that he can transform Sam in 5 months!
@kittykat334
@kittykat334 Жыл бұрын
This is an indictment on Trey, not Sam. Trey has to be proving badly that he isn’t what the 49ers had hoped he would become. And I agree. Sam is better than Trey by a long shot!

Stats lost me at 17:00ish. I'm glad Chris told him to shut up. Seriously, how can you make a decision on 7th round QB pick as a future franchise QB in less than 20 days? There's so many factors that play into it and evaluation on a decision that big takes time, especially when you traded a bunch of picks to choose a QB 3rd overall. You want to make sure he's not the one before moving on right away.
