Let There Be Drums!!! On February 14th 2020 in Bergamo, Italy, yours truly BARBARA CASERTA was more than happy to celebrate Valentine’s day interviewing for LINEA ROCK none other than Mr CHRIS SLADE! Chris was in Bergamo with his solo project THE CHRIS SLADE TIMELINE to play a show which took us pleasantly across his 55 years career as a professional and versatile rock drummer: Uriah Heep, Asia, The Firm (with Jimmy Page & Paul Rodgers), David Gilmour, Michael Schenker, Gary Moore, Tom Jones (in the 60s), Manfred Mann’s Rare Earth… and of course the gig that gave him the big fame as the “bald banger” of AC/DC, in crucial moments of their long history: “The Razors Edge / Live at Donington” days plus "The Rock Or Bust Tour" after Phil Rudd was suddenly fired again… a gig so big, than surprisingly can turn to a double edged sword! We discussed it all… past present, and even future since he never stops… with juicy anecdotes, including his memories of a certain audition, of recording such a huge hit as "Thunderstruck" and also about saying “NO!” to Mr Jimmy Page himself! His attraction to the drums, emotions, sacrifices, music, style, being a pro and solid player but not only on stage, the pros and cons of always been available of everyone and anyone… basically the life of a hard working musician… and as a drummer myself as well, of my AC/DC female tribute band (PUSSY/DC) just imagine how many questions I prepared and also came out spontaneously during the chat… like the questions of all questions: how is the situation in AC/DC right now? Is Chris still the official drummer?! Check it out! Very Special Thanks to Carlo of Good Music.
Enjoy & Share!

Big thanks to Chris for stepping in when required with my favourite rock band. Obviously, you’re going to be compared and scrutinized but they chose you and that’s high praise. Feel bad you had to put up with all the B.S.

Slade is such an underrated (Edit, under appreciated, humble,) drummer. I remember when I was young, my dad sat up late one night after he'd put me to bed. I could here this mesmerizing and captivating music, I crawld out of bed and snuk out to the living room and just stood there, what was playing? ACDC live at Donnington Park, Thunderstruck, at full tilt. He was watching a vhs movie, alone and he looked kind of sad, so I got up to him and asked if he could play that song again, he did, and asked if I wanted to hear the whole concert? Yes, yes! And that sparked the close bond we had together with rock music, 30 years later it's still my favorite song and it always raises the hairs in my neck. All because I could here that fantastic drum beat, delivered by Chris Slade.

Seems like a really nice guy. I hope he has the health to play for many more years. I have great memories of saving my pocket money yrs ago to buy acdc live at Donnington on vhs and to this day it's one of my favourite filmed concerts from them.

@@generalstabssjef only 6 yeary diff and Rudd did decades of drugs and still better timing and still has better skin tone.. Slade doesn't look so healthy.maybe he is ill and not sharing.. it's okay.. Rudd will rule the stage once again in 2022.. POWER UP..

@bbjazzmanjazzman7721 I beg to differ about the timing of Chris' drumming. While I prefer the sound of Phil Rudd, Rudd's superiority is in his groove and looseness in my opinion . As for timing and precision, Chris is impeccable and spot on. I just think his playing at times was a bit too clean and polished for acdc. That being said, some of his live versions at donington such as whole lotta rosia and let there be rock are absolutely ground shaking
