I’m white and 59 but when I was a teenager I listened to allot of black singers, EW&F, temptations, Marvin Gaye, etc. my brother walked by my room one night and said I swear I believe you have some black in you because you listen to allot of black musicians. 😂😂. I said I listen to anything that’s real and has soul. Love my music.

Perfectly stated. I don't care about color or genre. For me, it's about seeing him shatter people's expectations of what they think they are going to hear. There have been many crossover musicians in recording history. But I've never heard of another artist where it's truly hard to lock them into any genre like Chris. His appeal is universal. When people hear Tennessee Whisky or see his Austin City Limits performance or even the CMA performance with Justin Timberlake they instantly become fans. He's transcended the country genre because he's so much more than that.

I’ve watched probably 25 or more reactions to this song and yours is one of my favorite!! You didn’t keep stopping the music to comment and you didn’t “lose you mind” (in a good way 😁) by commenting over the music. Your thought bubble 💭 comments are ingenious and amazing too!!!! And yes, as you say many many of your brothers & sisters have reacted to this video and have been just as amazed and totally immersed in his music.....soulful, the runs etc. I love it. How funny is it that watching black reactors respond to country music has got me listening to country music again. I gave up on the whole genre a long time ago. I can't tell you how many times I've watched this reaction. And I can't tell you how many more times I'll watch it again cuz it's one of my faves. The first time i heard this song i was so blown away i listened several times. Later, I googled the song only to be disappointed it wasn't Stapleton 's own but a cover. So i looked up the original and listened and Oh! Em! Gee! There as NO comparison! Chris Stapleton took this song with already great lyrics and turned it into his very own. I don't care how many more covers come off it,it'll never get better than this. The original singer would've been proud.

I recently discovered Chris Stapleton, too. I'm not a fan of country music, but I am a fan of the blues and a friend told me about Chris. I almost fell off my chair the first time I heard this song. Amazing. Chris is my new favorite country blues artist.

Since I had the time, went back to catch up on some of the older reactions. It has been bothering me for ages why Chris Stapleton sounded so familiar. The style and tone is pure Sam Cooke. If one must remind, it never hurts to choose a master of his craft.

I grew up about an hour north of Detroit from 1952 onwards and had a steady music diet of Motown’s GREATEST SOUL Artists of All Time and they would Love Chris Stapleton’s version of Tennessee whiskey! Amazing and his wife’s vocal harmonies are fantastic 💞

What I love about Chris reaction videos is you can tell he’s taking them there. It’s like you are in a whole mood while listening to Chris. I can honestly say I’ve never skipped Chris on my playlist. It has to play every single time
