CONFUSION LEADS TO ANGER ON OVERTIME FINISH AT BOWMAN GRAY - SPORTSMAN 100 LAPPER - 6-24-23

Zack Ore picked up his first win in the 100-lapper for the Sportsman Division at Bowman Gray Stadium, bumping Michael Adams out of the lead on the white flag lap of the Green/White/Checker Overtime.
Radio Traffic from both drivers tells the story of confusion, with both teams describing what they believe to be an impending 1 lap shootout - the Green and White together scenerio. That happens sometimes in the shorter races, but officials were using a traditional 2-lap overtime for this event. The 55 team of Ore realized that before the restart, while the 19 team of Adams still wasn't sure.
Adams seemed to slow down more on what was the white flag lap, causing Ore's car to send the 19 spinning. An angry Adams on the radio was adamant on the radio that the race was over and he had won. He drove over to the victory lane area but Chief Starter, Randy Smith explained to him that Ore was the winner.

"11 laps to go at the line, we don't need the duct work anymore..." wow. so much drama at this place. It seems almost staged, like they encourage it. Not sure where the confusion came from. One spotter clearly knew what was going on. One didn't. Aside from that; Watch the flags.

Thanks for the compliment on following the race. As for the comments on the duct work, that was from an earlier conversation with my driver that wasn't in the video. The slightest contact can jam it up and cause overheating. With 11 laps to go, it's a non issue, not drama for us at least.

Anybody that has never been to bowman gray has no right to comment on this video or any video on KZfaq about bowman gray. It’s a 1/4 mile short race track with this environment and especially this short track, your gonna have to put a bumper to someone to move them and sometimes they might spin out and wreck or whatever. They get heated and mad and that fuels these fights that’s pretty much it and it’s the nature of the place there’s no place like it, so if you haven’t been you can’t comment.

The ending of that race was not handled well at all. There has to be more clarity for drivers and teams. Still though it is the madhouse so you know anything is possible.

@@copcars847 I've seen some good racing there, but it seems like your description fits more often than not. I'm amazed that they're willing to waste that much money and labor just to fight over a middle pack position and then wreck perfectly good cars just because somebody got their feelings hurt. If I didn't know better, I'd think the cars and parts were free and the drivers didn't work on them at all. Maybe thats the case for a couple of them but not many. Since the stands are filled by people who want to see carnage, maybe the track should have a fund to help with repairs. It's amazing how much they profit while the cars on the track just hemorrhage cash and work.🤣

My track is standing room only every Saturday night. And select Wednesdays. WWE packs stands too. Doesn't mean it's not stupid. Plus BGS is too small. No speed.
