My favorite Robin Hood, I traveled out of state to join my cousin on a rifle Elk hunt. Brought my bow just to shoot for fun. I had won a 3D competition not long before. My two uncles were heckling me when I took my first shots at 20 yards. I pushed the target back to 40 and Robin Hooded on my third arrow. They stopped heckling.

You bring back many memories Chris . I’m 86 and don’t wish to relate my accomplishments in our beloved sport. I have shot with Howard Hill a long time ago along with Ann Weber Hoyt .My email begins with 14robinhoods..It has always been this even though I retired from archery competition in the early seventies with 17 Robinhoods . Most were instinctive. My thoughts on what you were trying to achieve was admirable but this rare feat is accomplished usually when you least expect it . I have done it at the practice butt and in competition and always when you least expect it …One thing for certain it is done by the elite fraternity..Welcome to my world even though we are decades apart . Carry on the great work Chris. We’ll shoot together someplace in the next world .I have harvested over 💯 whitetails with my bows

I first took up bow hunting in 2016. My first bow was a Prime Rize 70#. Had many smashed nocks during practice sessions but only one true RH. Then changed to a Prime Centergy 70#. Had to stop trying to group on one bulls eye due to RH's costing too much in destroyed arrows. In all cases I was using CX Piledriver Hunter 350s and the RH's were impossible to separate without gradually levering apart the first arrow into carbon slivers. These are positively evil/wicked to handle; even wearing ultra heavy duty gloves. The frictional force between the inside of the first arrow and the exterior of the second generated a smell similar to an electrical circuit burning out. I now always practice with one arrow per point of aim to avoid the expensive novelty of RH's. I am a very average archer and attribute the great repeatability of p.o.i. to the Centergy's zero integral torque at full draw.

Robinhood didn't split his own arrow. He split his competitor's... the sheriff's arrow. A true "Robin Hood" would be splitting the dead center bullseye arrow of his competitor, which by the true definition could technically be done on his first shot. 😉

Got my first 'robinhood' just last weekend from 20 yd. I use pin nocks on my VAPs to try to deflect any would-be robinhoods, but I must've hit this one dead square in the back because it obliterated the pin and shoved it inside of the arrow and split the carbon down past the fletching. The pin did however push the other arrow out the side of the carbon, which then still stuck in the target. I still can't believe how much damage the pin took, but at least it saved the second arrow I guess. I think with pin nocks, that's about the most 'robinhood' I can ask for

I've Robin Hooded darts several times, but arrows, never. Damaged a lot of arrows, but no Robin Hoods. A friend and I shot over 60 aluminum arrows into a target when we were in high school (mid 80's) several times without removing any arrows and still never got one. A local shooter had two Robin Hoods hanging on his wall at his shop so we thought we'd try and get one, even if we had to cheat. I actually saw one real Robin Hood at a 4th of July event in East Machias around the same time where two shooters were in a shoot off for winner. After three rounds of back and forth bullseyes, a guy named Chris Sprague "Robin Hooded" his competitors arrow. That's a real one in my eyes. He was awarded the win. If only there were cell phones in 85.

In 2002 when I bought my first Mathews (Legacy), I busted a nock and pushed the remainder of it down the shaft with my first two shots, immediately screwing up 2 arrows. I am always zipping a vane off at least once a session, but ever since I started fletching my own, it's not that big a deal anymore.

I bought a PSE Ramped from Gander Mountain when they were doing 50% off. Great deal at the time. I set up a target at 10 yards, shot 2 arrows to make a sight adjustment and somehow got it dead on for arrow 3 and 4. Set up at 20 yards and got one on my second volley of 6. First and only one. I hung the arrows in my office.

Fun video. :-) But yes, I think it is very difficult to make a true Robin Hood shot, intentionally and without cheating. I have been into archery for appr. 35 years and I have only shot 2 robin hood arrows. The first, was when I was young, shooting indoor, at 18 m, with recurve bow and ACC arrows (still have it, but it is detorating, from lying in a window for a long time). The 2nd was not so many years ago, appr. 4 years ago maybe. That was with compound bow at 30 m and with my brand new carbon 3D arrows (Bowfire). And on the first night shooting them, I made a robin hood at 30 m distance. As far as I remember, I think I also did a maid Marian shot, shooting one of my coaches arrows and I have seen both Robin Hood and maid Marian shots happen for example at 3D shoots.

I think Robin Hoods should have to be a called shot. Eventually, mathematically it's only a matter of time before you hit one of your arrows by complete fluke. I did one but only at 10 yards. I placed the first arrow which also had no nock in it. Called it and hit it first try. Second arrow went about 1/3rd of the way into the shaft of the first arrow. It looked really cool how the carbon broke apart.

I've done two of my arrows at 20 meters, but unintentionally. If you really don't wanna do it, it happens. Broken nocks, split carbon, but very shallow

It would be a cool video if you did TRX 34 Vs V3 3. I know you just did a target vs hunting bow but a crossover bow vs hunting bow would be sick

I’ve had 2 Robinhoods, one I saved the arrow and it’s on the antlers from the deer I shot that same season. I don’t know where the other one went lol.

My first half hour of having a bow set up and learning how to shoot in a shop, boom...Robinhood! Thousands of arrows later, never again 😤

Man I watched myth busters say it was impossible. Me and my buddy's used to robinhood each others arrows on purpose. Especially tried to do it when someone would use a bright nock and they shoot a 12. Gave us something to aim at
