Those downshifts in the Ferrari sound incredible. I know you don't like the sound of Ferrari V8s that much Chris, but that may be one of the best noises I've ever heard.

Vittorio Mantovani I think Top Gear is too much of a show for Chris, he is one of the best car journalist, Top Gear presenters care most about making show, and are not even objective most of the times. May can't drive, Hammond is only kind off into cars and Clarkson is a very subjective wanna be good driver, drifting on a ''Top Gear Track'' which is half mile wide: Tiff, Plato, Chris, Jethro, Catchpole, ... are better by miles in my opinion.

Benedocta www.reddit.com/r/cars/comments/2jbqdu/matt_farah_speaks_about_chris_harris_leaving_drive/ He's a twat. End of story. You don't push for a model because it is the, "next big thing," (how many times has he said that now?) and then leave the company because your ego is too large? He effectively killed the best auto channel on YT simply due to his ignorance. Not to mention people blab out, "Chris is a saint and fuck Drive for going to the pay model," when Chris is the one who pushed for it. Dumb ass needs to owe up to his mistake and fix it rather than run off and try to look like the good guy by saying, "My videos are now free guys! See! I am a good person!"

Can I just say that it is a thrill to have you back and accessible, proper access to your videos for us Europeans surely was missed. Many things can be said about the Porsche and Ferrari rivalry, both companies makes fantastic cars which in turn creates hordes of passionate fans and one day in a somewhat distant future there will be an epic celebration of the 100th year of this rivalry - what a video that will be :) The one thing I do admire about the Porsche line of cars is how they manage to stay true to the origin with every new iteration of the cars, yet each new car looks more modern than the one it replaces, that to me really is an achievement. Thank you for being back and thank you for a great video.

Two things: 1) This video is a nice balance between indulgent and informative thanks to the lap times at the end. I suppose it's similar to how your old EVO friends do things, but that's fine by me for comparison videos. 2) Chris, I've seen you tweet about money-making concerns. You know pay channels slash your viewership, but what about something like Patreon, where fans can donate a certain amount per video monthly in exchange for occasional rewards of your choosing? You'd get a guaranteed amount of money each time from those who enjoy your videos/opinions the most, without pissing off or otherwise alienating the rest of them who are more casual viewers. Some KZfaqrs have used it very effectively while keeping their actual channel free to make gaining new fans easier. I mention number 2 because pay YT channels will never be widely accepted. Whatever the marketing team says, there are many who just use this site to kill time, not as a serious print magazine or television replacement. At any rate, great video. Looking forward to more! You were always /DRIVE's main attraction for me.

Question: did Ferrari bring in a team of engineers to tune the Speciale to best conquer Anglesey? Question 2: how is your FF? Still great as a DD? Question 3: any thoughts on your next car? I think a Porsche GT3 RS would fit much more into the comparison between those two. The Ferrari 458 Speciale is the top tier of the 458 series. (right now) And the GT3 isnt. It worries me even more that the Ferrari had such minimal advantage over the Porsche. In the video it seems that on the GT3 laptime chris had to be more careful because it was wetter on the surface. Im maybe wrong but, it seems like there is still no place for another competitor in the range of a GT3 (RS) and thats quiet sad in my opinion. :/

Nah, the 458 Speciale sounds better and imo is one of the best sounding cars ever made.
@JoeBlo29 жыл бұрын
People will bitch about the Speciale being double in price, but on the basis of depreciation alone, it is well worth it. The GT3 will depreciate quickly just like all 911s. The Speciale... will not. I doubt it will even depreciate at all. It's the ultimate version of the final naturally aspirated, mid-engine car that Ferrari will ever make. The Speciale will become a collector's car immediately.
@yumpbalump9 жыл бұрын
Have you seen prices on the last GT3? Hardly what I would call depreciation. And the running costs of the Ferrari will be far higher. I agree that if one only does a couple thousand miles per year, the Ferrari will come out better in the long run. If you want to daily drive it, the Porsche would be the (much) lower cost option.
@JoeBlo29 жыл бұрын
Porches almost always depreciate faster than Ferraris.
@rousseau3279 жыл бұрын
A 2008 GT3 in the U.S. has barely depreciated 25% of its value, given it has low miles on it. Can't really say the same for the 430. There are many reasons why mid engine v8 Ferraris can be better than GT3s/GT3 RSs, but depreciation just isn't one of them anymore.
@JoeBlo29 жыл бұрын
The Speciale will retain its value much better than the GT3. Please try to convince me otherwise.
@rousseau3279 жыл бұрын
JoeBlo2 Well, given the Speciale is an "end of an era" car for Ferrari, while the 991 GT3 is a "beginning of an era" car for Porsche, I wouldn't be surprised if the Speciale does hold its value better. But that's a matter of supply and demand that is only applicable to the Speciale. It's not likely an argument you can use with the next mid-engined Ferrari that's turbocharged.
@tranko229 жыл бұрын

Ferrari cannot hold a candle to Porsche. The 911 GT3 has 125hp less and is heavier than the 458 Speciale but is only 0.3 seconds slower on this track and 0.2 seconds slower on the Sachsenring. The 911 Turbo S has 45hp less and is much heavier than the 458 Speciale but is 0.3 faster on the Sachsenring. So, Ferraris track weapon cannot even beat Porsches plush gran turismo. A GT2 let alone a GT2 RS would just rape the Speciale.

pay attention to what you say! The ferrari has no turbo to give impetus in the car. how do you think the Ferrari will be faster than 991 Turbo S? moron

vinicius sousa Do you speak English, punk? Your comment makes no sense because of grammatical errors. So, try again.

Dagda on that weather and with no traction control any cars can't hold a candle to a heavier 4 wheel drive car. I suppose you didn't watch the Evo times on this track, check them out the Porsche on the dry is seconds slower. Not to mention what kind of demolition it would be for for Porsche against this car on a drag race, 0-60's does not make a car better

Lorenzo Locchi Firstly, the GT3 is also 2-wheel-drive (it has 4-wheel-steering) and the test between Turbo S and Speciale on the Sachsenring was under dry conditions. Secondly, the GT3 is not the natural competitor of the Speciale. The GT2 RS is (power/price/overall concept). And given how close even the GT3 is to the Speciale, the GT2 RS will murder it.

Yet you still don't point out that it was close because it was on a wet surface and on a track with very short straights full of low speeds corners.

Oh, how I love these cars. Have driven both around a soakingly wet track as well. Stunning cars to drive although with the 458 you really have the feeling that it's not actually you doing the magic, but the car. Nevertheless: thx mate for producing those great video! Hope it turns out as the right decision!
