Do you fear the 50yd shot over obstacles such as bunkers or a water hazards? If the answer to that question is yes then its highly likely that you will be suffering from 1 or more of the issues covered in this video the 5 worst pitching mistakes & how to fix them
Having coached for over 20 years I see the same pitching mistakes time and time again on the lesson tee, but luckily I have found ways to quickly and efficiently fix these resulting in more consistency and confidence.

My favourite youtube coach. I wish i could hire you as my own coach. I've had two experiences with swing coaches. Both were happy to give one or two lessons, and that was it. Even letting them know of my goal of getting to single figure handicap. It's strange that coaches dont seem to want to coach.

Great video Chris. I’m definitely guilty of taking too wide a stance and while you can get away with it, it is much harder to control distance - so I’ve been narrowing stance on all shortish chips. The only thing I’d say is when the ground is rock hard there is that danger of catching the bounce too early and blading it. I did notice that even in your practice swings, your brushing the ground after the ball so it’s still ball first. There’s a bit of skill in that. Love the tempo and the finish.

I just mentioned on one of your 3 wood videos that I discovered your channel today (liked and subscribed right away) and said I thought you were a very good teacher. Now I have to repeat that, but with caps, you are a VERY GOOD teacher! So many reasons in this video, but one overall reason is you connect the "what / how" with the "why" better than any other golf instruction I've seen. Also, you are very good at remembering that many of your viewers have much less knowledge than you do and therefore are careful not to assume we / they know what you mean by certain phrases. An example is at the 9:30 mark of this video you say you are "extended", but then immediately follow-up with a easy to understand example of what exactly that means. I would guess that a decent percentage of you viewers really benefited from that type of rare, unassuming follow-up. This is the third video of yours I've now watched today and I've picked up very valuable information on every one of them, but just as important you've presented the information in a way that makes it easier to remember (because of the what / how and why connections). I'm so happy I discovered your channel!

I loved your references to the need for higher skill for some shots. I always try to use the lowest skill shot available to me, e.g. use a 7 iron when 6 ft off the green rather than a wedge. One of the best bits of advice I ever got was 'Use the least lofted club you can get away with'.

Brilliant video, Chris! Unbelievable that the ground crew, at that very moment, had to mow where /near you were trying to shoot towards. Apparently for your 5th point, you had to wait a bit until they left. Really useful tips for a person (me) that struggles with pitching. Full swing, no problem. My finesse (and confidence) lag badly on the kind of shots you were demonstrating. Again thanks for the great tips!

Chris! That was an excellent display on how to hit the short pitch shot. This type of shot can lead to chunks or belly shots quite easily. I alternate between the gap wedge and pitching wedge. I also try to use a U shaped swing as opposed to a V shaped swing. Stance and rotation as you displayed.

Why are you pitching with a sand wedge and not the pitching wedge? How do you determine which club to use?
@j.lizbardo
@j.lizbardo 2 жыл бұрын
The P (44° average loft) goes further than an S (56° average loft) wedge. You need to learn what distances you cover with each club. And with which club you feel you have more control or "love at the time of delivery" you may decide that you play an i9 because you feel better with it, even though you "know" an S is enough to cover the distance and height. Having an accurate appreciation of your distances with each club is key.
