After watching in slow mo, it’s definitely hitting the rail as it tries to eject the case. It swings up as if to eject and hits the rail just so that it falls back in.

Had this happen with my 7mm mag. The ejecting shell was making it out of the gun, but it was hitting my windage turret each time. I Took out one of the extractors and it changed the extraction angle so that they ejected much more sideways instead of upward and sideways.

I keep hearing you either get a great shooting and functioning one, or you get one that has function issues or that doesn’t shoot worth a darn. And at the price point, I’d rather get a seekins precision havoc ph2, as I haven’t heard any issues with them. The accuracy issue could be the rifle not liking certain loads, but that can be remedied by trying different bullet weights and brands, or reloading. But that rifle should function with no issues.

I've owned a Mesa and Ridgeline, both magnum, neither would eject. I made videos, sent to Christensen, shipped the rifles back for repair. Both times rifles returned with the identical problem. One shot lights out and the other was about 1 MOA after their recommended break in. Got rid of both. Later I worked behind a gun counter at a shop that sold this brand. Problem after problem after problem. Also, for the record, I was using rings without a pic rail. Seemed like the ejector couldn't muster the strength to eject. Gunsmith at Christensen agreed and replaced with stronger springs - still no joy. Customer service wasn't bad, just the products were.

If you watch the video at 0.25 play speed you see the case hit the turret at the 2.55. Some hit the rail some hit the turret. With modern scope turrets getting bigger and every "longrange" gun having a pic rail ejection angle really needs to be taken into consideration.

where do I start? Flinching due to anticipation of recoil affected your first group. The verticle stringing in the next two groups is normal due to velocity increase due to copper layer building up in barrel. Very normal groupings as the rifle breaks in and the shooter gets used to the recoil. As far as ejection goes, you are pulling the bolt back too slow. This was resolved around the 2:23 mark where you start sharply pulling back on the bolt. I am not sure what you think is wrong with this rifle. You mentioned the rifle being expensive and you expected more. $1750 is the current selling price for this rifle and a very good price with all of the features this rifle offers. This is all straight CA hate IMO. I do not own a Christensen Arms product.
@Bullets4Bucks
@Bullets4Bucks Жыл бұрын
The rifle ejects the brass up into the scope and or into the scope base. Many range trips and it's not just when I cycle it slow. It also ruins the rim of the brass when it ejects it into the base. The gun did not function correctly. Dozens of bolt actions tested costing 300 to 3500 and no other rifle has had these issues. The big issue here is ejection issues and it shouldn't happen with a 300 or 1700 dollar rifle. It'd meant to have a scope on it and or scope base. Christensen has been plagued with issues with many reports. The issue never resolved. When fast cycling it still happened occasionally, and it just dented the rim more.

I’d switch to Talley rings. Looks like the spent cases are hitting your pic rail. The Talley rings have an optional 20 moa set. Also you can order the top ring with a anti cant level. Doesn’t look as cool as a pic rail with beefy rings, but function over cosmetics for me. I think Hawkins makes similar rings.

Some of the bolt actions even though it shouldn't be an issue the brass will hit the scope/rail because it doesn't eject to the side enough. I’ve got the ridge line in 300 win mag. It ejects every time but dents the mouth of the case. I noticed is has two plungers on the bolt all Remington 700s only have one. Idk if that changes the angle at which it’s extract’s the case?? But mine is 100% hitting the 20moa rail that mind you came mounted on the gun from factory. Then accuracy was way less that satisfying for a $2k rifle with factory ammo. I eventually worked up a hand load for 212eldx that got it shooting .75 at 100yrds. Long story short if you want a out of the box tack driver buy Seekins my 6.5 creed out of the box shot sub .5” or if wanting ultra light I’d consider Weatherby mark V. Same thing with my Mesa as far as groups with 28 Nosler. My barrel was not screwed in all the way. Throat shot out at 200 rounds. Not happy with Christianson arms. Check and see if you can see threads in the throat. I was using a Zeiss hd. That bullet might not stabilize till past 200 yards. My .338 Lapua is like that with long bullets.

I was thinking the case was hitting that BIG tactical windage turret on that BIG 34mm tube -- I had a similar issue at one time; swapped out the scope and it went away. That scope has gotta be 30+ ounces; kinda defeats the purpose of a "lightweight hunting rig", don't you think? It'd be great on a PRS/NRL/NRL-Hunter rig, but not a hunter... Don't give up on it. I'm not sure how many rounds you've put down it, or different loads, but you can't simply FAIL it after one go-round with a box of factory ammo. Get at least 300 rounds down it. Do you reload? Have you done a load workup? First thing I'd do is get rid of that POS brake and get something legit. Do some research, call Christiansen and ask if they have any good load data for that model. Work up a load (ladder test/chrono/seating-depth, etc.) There's no reason it can't shoot around 1/2-MOA reliably. You have all the makings for nice rig, but you gotta put in SOME effort... I know times are kinda tough and a 300-PRC can get pretty thirsty with components,... I guess it all depends on how much time/$$$ you want to invest in it.. (I'd also end up pulling that stock and getting it into a chassis, but that's me)

Have you called Christiansen before bashing the rifle? Mine had ejection issues as well and they sent me new stronger extractors for free which solved the issue. Also - the ammo may be your issue here. How many different brands, grain weight ammo have you tried in this particular rifle? My Ridgeline was the best shooting rifle I’ve ever had hands down and I regret getting rid of it.

@RMC2021
@RMC2021 Жыл бұрын
@@Bullets4Bucks sorry but the big red “FAIL” in your thumbnail is bashing. As far as an honest review - you never answered the question about ammo. Christiansen guarantees sub MOA performance with quality factory ammo. Unless you’ve tried 3-5 different grains and manufacturers, there is nothing honest about your review. I’ve been an avid shooter, builder, and smith for a long time and I can tell you without hesitation that CA puts out a much better product than 90% of the off the shelf rifles available on the market. I have zero ties to CA but this is nothing short of a half assed review as it pertains to accuracy. As far as the failure to eject - I would agree it shouldn’t be an issue with a rifle so highly priced but it is a simple fix that I’m sure they will take care of. You are correct to show that flaw with your particular rifle, but it certainly is not a failure.

The 'lightweight' hunting rifle fad has gotten out of hand, and was never about accuracy. Reducing so much weight reduces stability and increases recoil. Failures are common in featherweights. I can see a appreciative market for lighter weights for our handicapped hunters, otherwise it's just a fad. Your average hunter still appreciates markmanship and is just not that lazy to sacrifice a solid foundation. When a standard rifle becomes too much of a burden for everyone to enjoy, I'll give up the sport.

Before blaming the gun you might want to try a different box of ammo since Hornady brass isn't that good just about as bad as Remingtons and quit running the bolt like a girl they made to be run fast and hard like in hunting situations I've seen alot of rifles not ejact probably when running the bolt like that and honestly before crying figure out why that's going on it's under warranty even though I'm 99.9 percent sure it's user error The way the teachers are setup is to be run fast and hard like in hunting situations

Lol 1000s of dollars of my money spent and multiply range trips. You sit there crying about a free review that costs you nothing. I ran it hard and slow. It ejects the brass into the bottom of the scope and sometimes scope rail. It's the guns fault. It's designed to have a scope on it and or rail. It's an almost 2k gun. It shouldn't have problems that all of my others haven't from 200 to 4000. The harder you run it, the more it just dents the case rim and permanently runs the cases. It's got an ejection issue. Christensen Ridgelines are notorious for issues lately. If I send a gun back and don't tell my viewers how bad it is what good am I doing and how honest is that?

I disagree that most people are... most people don't reload, or if they do, they don't reload better quality than factory ammo. Using reloads usually voids the warranty and isn't very relative for testing purposes.

Why are you doing a bad review on a rifle due to your failure on your side? The ejection issue is because the cartridge is hitting your windage turret. The accuracy issue is due to your pulling the trigger like it is a shotgun. The video says it all, I'm surprised Christensen hasn't sued you yet specially when u search google for that rifle your video shows up FAILED like it is a bad rifle.

Lol. The gun ejects the brass into the bottom of the scope rail and scope. That is an ejection issue, and it is the guns fault. The gun is meant to have a scope on it. If you buy a toaster and it burns your bread on every setting, it's not the breads fault. Christensen has had many reported issues with the ridgeline. I know we live in a woke society where truth is not allowed to be spoken. Literally have shot 100s of bolt actions with scopes and zero issues with brass hitting anything.
