Embodied Knowing versus History-centrism
Dharma and Judeo-Christian traditions differ fundamentally in their approaches to knowing
the divine. The dharma family (including Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism and Jainism) has
developed an extensive range of inner sciences and experiential technologies called
'adhyatmavidya' to access divinity and higher states of consciousness. Adhyatmavidya is a body of
wisdom and techniques culled from centuries of first-person empirical inquiry into the nature of
consciousness and undertaken by advanced practitioners. These accounts and the individuals who
have embarked on these quests are highly regarded, but they are not reified into canons, messiahs
or absolute statements of an exclusive nature. They are neither a code of laws nor a history of past
revelations but guides for replicating and retransmitting the experience and its transformational
powers. Their truth must be rediscovered and directly experienced by each person. I have coined
the term embodied knowing to refer to inner sciences and adhyatma-vidya.
I looked at the various examples of religious tension that were listed in the paper and
wondered whether it was perhaps too simplistic to identify the 'victims' and the 'culprits' as they
had done. I noticed that Islam was listed as a victim in one country but not as an aggressor in
others. The same was true of Christianity: its representatives had lodged complaints against other
religious groups in places such as East Timor, but there was silence concerning Christianity's own
aggressive campaigns elsewhere. Later I realized that such asymmetrical representations are not
uncommon in the academy, so I proposed to Prof. Law that we do some pre-conference
preparation and research the deep-rooted causes of religious violence. My feeling was that all
religious ideologies, without exception, should be open to serious investigation.

It should be right from L kg... letters introduction like ABCD Parents also should learn along with them It should be in place of regional language throughout India.. N regionals language as third language.. This way india won't be divided in the name of Language

What motherland are you talking about buddy,India?India is an invented country,it came into existence in 1947,before that never existed in the entire history of the subcontinent a country called India.What is the national language of India,Britain has English ,China has Mandarin Chinese,Japan has Japanese,Germany has German ,Korea has Korean,does India have Indian language ,India hasn't got a national language because India has never existed before the British ,so when you say that Sanskrit is the language of the mother land,I ask what motherland,are you going to impose this dead language which the language of the north to Dravidians ,to Tamil people and do expect them to accepted,European union is not working and is on its last legs,I think this unholy union called India is soon going to collapse,the sooner the better.

I salute you Rajiv MalhotraJi. The work that you have done and are doing for our civilization, culture and religion is phenomenal. You are a superb Human Being. And I thank you tremendously. I have this comment to make regarding your questioning the saint who was preaching about how we are all "One". The saints always talk about Unity on the level of "consciousness", on the Absolute level of life, where on that level, all is "same", "oneness", unified, level of Atma, etc.; but on the level of relative life, on the superficial, gross level of life, there is all diversity. The Hindu dharma, which is based on Vedas and Vedic Literature, teaches everything one needs to know about this full range of life - from relative to absolute. Lord Krishna Himself summarizes this in Chapter 2 of Bhagavad Gita as Samkhya knowledge. The analogy/example you used that since the saint said we are all one then ( you suggested) why don't we all convert to one religion because we are all one anyway, and thereby all animosity will be removed among people. This analogy you made doesn't hold up as these two things don't align to be the same thing. These two things are separate whereby we cannot say let's all convert to one religion as we are all one at our base anyway. I'm just saying that your analogy doesn't hold up because the level of life of Unity that a Saint talks about is based on a different level of life from what religion one follows. Unity will not come just by the human race following only one religion across the globe, and especially Christianity! Unity is a level that is experienced deep within one's Self. It is a real experience and it is reality that exists at the deeper level of life itself. And you know this yourself as you speak of this as well. Unity cannot be achieved by everyone converting to one kind of religion. Although, having said that, I have to add that if the world became a Vedic world, we surely would all experience Unity and Oneness, and as you also mention, there would be no problems then in our world as only peace and harmony would prevail. This type of world would probably be available only in SatYug. Many Saints are actually working towards achieving this type of life; Maharishi Mahesh Yogi calls it the descent of Heaven on Earth, Bapuji Dashrathbhai Patel refers to it as "Behad Param Shanti ayegi anant koti Brahmando mein" and many other Saints like this working towards this same goal. So there is hope and the outlook is good for human race to experience Unity, Oneness in the midst of all diversity................................................... Thank you.

As a person who has studied Christian history' Theology and non -christian religions and worked as a Chaplain at the University of Medical Sciences Hospital in Little Rock' Arkansas and a person of Kerala Sryian Orthodox Christianity who grew up in Bangalore, and Chickmangalore District in Karanatka and went to boarding school in the Nillgiris TN. I enjoyed your lecture but I have never denied my roots as person of Christian origin who were converted from Indian Jewish people converted by St.Thomas community to which Persian emigrants were added in the 4th century and Sryians in the 6th. century

Once again, what a great video! Hahaha... the Hindu 'Good News' and the Doctor's 'Good News' analogy are great! I LOVE the response to the Christian 'original sin' is that we are ALL DIVINE! Perfect!!! All non-Muslim and non-Christian people must NEVER underestimate the determination of these 2 Abrahamic religions to eventually want to see all humans believe in their respective religions. That is the ultimate goal of a practicing Muslim and Christian. ALL Dharmic faiths, Shintoism, Taoism, Skihism, Jainism, Atheism, Animism, Bahai faith, Zoroastrianism, Yazidism, Confucianism, Judaism, Paganism, Satanism, and ALL other smaller beliefs are the target for conversion of christianity and Islam.

Homeopathy describes some profiles of people who often hear 'Voices' from other realms. So the Founders of Islam and Christianity may have belonged to such profile and they were convinced that they were being guided by God himself. They just assumed that God had a biological resemblance to Man. Hindu tradition accepts the existence of several other realms (called Lokas), some of which are populated by good Beings and others, by Demons. Hindu philosophy would definitely agree with the concept of Homeopathic profiles described in Classical Homeopathy.

Question at 48:25 - what has dharma got to do with corruption ? People in India are generally very religious compared to rest of the world. By that logic we should not be corrupt at all. What you said is true, but as per Sanatana Dharma time scale logic, we are passing thru kali yuga phase. Dharma is weak during this phase. This is as per design. Eventually Adharma in Kaliyuga will be wiped out and a New Sathya Yuga starts. This cycle repeats endlessly.

One point to add Rajivji is that along side Advaita vedanta is dvaita and many forms of Vishishthadvaita. Many of these darshans propound a difference between the soul and God. Dvaita philosophy distinguishes God from the soul and is the Object of worship. Thus hinduism has the array of philosophies that all have their own ways of sadhna and upasna. The Advaita philosophy always gets more attention than others however all the shad darshans are just as equal and amazing...

The problem is that the pseudoseculars in India have condemned Sanskrit as a religious rather than a language. For AI/Machine learning to advance, researchers have found that Sanskrit is the best language for coding. The day this advanced need emerges, Sanskrit will be back in all schools, not only in India but the world over.

Very poor poor lecture. Jumping from Hinduism pre-Christianity, to some how last 500-600 years of Western civilization moving into India, TOTALLY ignoring and keeping under wraps the Indian Orthdox Church founded by St. Thomas - and any of its interactions with Hindus - before those Westerners came to India. Totally keeping secret that one Zoroastrian Indian - namely, Melchior (as we in the United States recognize him, from the Christmas Feast) was originally born in Kerala, and one of the first non-Hebrews to wisely study sacred scripts of the Hebrews in anticipation of a King being born, and then travel thousands of miles to acknowledge Christ at His Birth in Bethlehem, and what the reaction was in Kerala when its people learned Melchior died en route to returning home after such an extraordinary event. What kind of secret is Rajiv trying to skip over, one would ask? And by not aknowledging that St. Thomas Christians were neighbors living side by side with Hindus in Kerala, and not acknowledging that St. Thomas Christians were persecuted by Western Christianity..... he completely skips over the values and beliefs of Early Christianity in India. It is very obvious that Rajiv has had no foundation whatsoever upon which to base how Hindus perceived the first Christian communities in India, and what their interactions were. All the Christians he is referring to are from the landing of the Portugese in Goa and their Roman Catholicism ...the English and their Anglican Church....the Protestants and their splintered evangelical congregations beliefs and methods......onward to the present day.

The answer to the question why this sanathana dharma share has reduced is because in sanathana dharma we are taught inclusiveness ( refer bagavat gita ) and also that whenever any adharma happen incarnation of god (anyform) will happen to restore dharma. And also material things will not bring happi...Hence bynlarge hindus are peaceful community with less ambition ....See they have never invaded anyother territory . But in todays times mindsets have changed and material success is prime to get happiness and that too within short period hence when somebody claim to have shortcut they follow

I am impressed. Good to see a Hindu took the trouble to find out about Nicene Creed and appreciate the Salvation strategy in main stream Christianity. 10 out of 10. God bless you. A finer point to note is Adam and Eve were divine in that sense before their fall when tempted by the Satanic serpent.

Rajivji: In geological terms you say the earth is millions of years old, and Sanatan Dharm is part of the human history. How about the idea of Yugas? If we take into account the various yugas, which in fact does stretch across millennia, does it make sense that it could be the reason why we find Sanatan Dharm like "similarities" all over the earth?

I have a question, what do you know about the Noahide code in Judisim ? I was listening to a rabbi who mentioned it and he said something about is saying it says in the last days Christians and Muslims will turn back to their Jews roots. I've never heard that before but while I have heard of the Noahide code I had no idea what it contains, perhaps you know something about it.

The Bible is so easy to understand, even a caveman can understand it. What part of the Bible don't you understand? If you read something without believing you will never comprehend or understand. Please read the Bible in Hindi, it may be easier, seriously. Something to ask at this point - am I prejudiced against Christianity or am I jealous? Abraham was an idol maker (that was his business) and idol worshiper before he came to know God.

Mr Rajiv Malhotra ji is one of the best speakers on this topic, but we must now create an "army" of such speakers - who are erudite without being pedantic, logical, and who can speak without losing the thread or the plot. We must also not underestimate the adversary; they are not wishy-washy, they have done a thorough if questionable job when it comes discrediting anything that has to do with Vedic literature and learning. A scholar who wants to rebut this level of punditry has to be thorough not only on the subject of the Vedas, but also on the mistakes that these other scholars are making.

Regards to you Rajiv Sirji One of your audience enquires about Dharma and argues about its discrepencies in different faith. With your kind permission I would like to define Dharma as one which could be adopted (Dharan kiya ja sakey ). Which means when we show our regards to river or tree or animal, it can be done without any dogma. We can show regards by simply folding our hands and thanking mother nature. This can be done while we may be walking on the road. It is as simple as that which means it is Dharma. While when there is strict adherence to rituals like mutulating genitials (in Islam for example ) it is specific to religion (mind you it is not same as hindi word Dharma ). So Dharma cannot be many , it can be only one for entire humanity. Hence Hindu is Dharma while rest are religions but not Dharma. Once again many many thanks to Rajivji for doing such a wonderful endeavour for Hinduism . I and my family is really enlightened with your wisdom. Hindu faith will always remember you with obligation. May God bless you....

Feelings can never be directly controlled nor commanded. They are never evil though hatred and fear may push you into undesirable behavior. This is my main problem with Judeo/Christian tradition. "Thou shalt not covet", & "Love one another, as I have loved you." A command on a feeling will sponsor debilitating guilt, from not feeling the right way. Condemnation of one's own feelings are responsible for much of the mental illness today.

What you are suggesting,is nihilism.according to your statement,if i am allowed to interpret.if all living things that take birth will eventually are predestined to die and perish. Then life inherently has no value and is not worth fighting.this is not so.this is a fight not for Brahma's sake but for manushya Dharma. Which sets me free from the greed of heaven and fear of hell and can lead me to the one at the end of all entities.
