'Mare' is Christian Loeffler's second studio album and follows in a similar vein to his self-released debut, 'A Forest'. However a key difference is that while his first album was heavily sample-based, 'Mare' is much more organic, in which nearly every sound and every instrument is self-recorded. Many of the album's ideas are based on field-recordings taken from the surroundings. On top of this, several microphones were set up in the room and left to run on for whole sessions. The microphones collected everything, from tapping, singing, playing, footsteps, as well as percussive elements.

this is one of the few songs, perhaps the only one, where I can remember exactly where I was and how I was feeling when I heard it for the first time ever. I was in Europe for the first time, inside the soda bookstore in Berlin and instantly connected with the music. I remember it feeling like I had just discovered a whole new world, I felt a sense of peace and belonging in what was a foreign place. Every time I hear that song I think of Berlin and how nice it felt to kind of disappear into a city as a stranger and observe my surroundings with brand new eyes. I can't help but feel nostalgic about that trip every time I hear this song. I want to go back to Berlin some day just to relive that feeling.

In bed baked as a pie, earbuds in, lying in darkness just makes the sounds in this song sound so beautiful. When you close your eyes and listen only to the sound you can hear every piece of its production which makes the song so much better. Thanks for creating this for all of us to listen to!!

WOW, this song blew up! I commented on it 2 years ago when I 1st watched Under An Arctic Sky documovie bout surf'n, snow covered mountains, oceans, snow storms (many of my favourite things) and the song had about 20,000 views. Now over 7.6 MILLION views. Blown away! So happy for the artists! Congrats! I just watched the docu again, it is amazing (it's on Primevideo now) and I was reminded of this brilliant song!

I happened to come across this piece while i was listening to other music lists. I remember thinking how it represented my emotions perfectly. I was just staring out my life, a new chapter, leaving behind all the negative memeories and traumas to embrace a knew start. Everytime I feel sad I listen to this song... if I'm happy I listen to this song... if I'm anxious I listen to this song... I just wanted to tell you that this somehow magically fits every mood of mine (except party because it's to "soft" for my friends). Her voice is beautiful and the production, rhythm and everything is perfect in my eyes. Sounds a lot like a complete song made from the ending of "eleven"... Cannot ever forget this song. Went through all phases of life and nothing affects how I feel when I turn this on. I can just get lost in it, and disregard everything around. By the time I'm done listening, it's always an amazing feeling. What a masterpiece Christian Loffler!
