Im Assyrian, we exist today. All that writing that you see, the Syriac writing, that is the same language Jesus himself spoke. That's Aramaic. Our missionaries in ancient times also established in Japan. In Japan there is a "Tomb of Jesus" and they thought Jesus died there, but it is most likely just an Assyrian who lived and had a family there.

That's correct. The ancient Orthodox Assyrian church is still here today. Unfortunately, the Assyrian and the Byzantine Churches (eastern half of the Roman Empire), split from each other after the Ecumenical Councils of the 4th century. There was a disagreement on the nature of Christ and the churches have remained split ever since. The 2 churches (Assyrian and Byzantine) should unify once again.

@@70AD-user45 No, not necessarily, imo. Uniting over an idea of simple unification is superficial at best. The true nature of Christ is significant to say the least. The Church of the East protected the apostolic faith and spread it far and wide. It was at odds with the church at Rome which was compromised by paganism and was enforcing its liturgy upon all of western Europe. This is a history which the Church at Rome would have preferred it be kept hidden since it would bring to light what the early christians really believed and fought to preserve. It would also bring to light the persecution that she unleashed in order to cement her position as the pre-eminent church which she had usurped.

Love this! Excellent research and presentation by all the archeologists involved. I especially thought the cross hidden within the four-pedaled flower( in plain sight) by early Christians to protect themselves from persecution to be very interesting. In addition, I found Dr. Charles Stewart”s detailing of the history behind Helena, mother of Constantine the Great, finding the True Cross during her pilgrimage around 327 very fascinating, nice job!

I have first encountered information about the Church of the East a few years ago through my daughter's christian school curriculum. She had to read a book called "The church of the East" by Joh Holzman, which is really an edited version of a book with the same name by Rev. John Stewart. I have always liked church history, and as a Evangelical, in an Eastern European orthodox country, I was still surprised to find out there was church further east than the orthodox church. We that realization comes a big question: Has the Gospel reached the end of the World? Something very important preceding the coming of Christ. Well, add to that the verse in Luke 21:24 that says "and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled." Israel is a country since 1948. It seems that Christ is coming back for His bride soon.
@gregb3457

Matthew 24:14 "And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come". One way of looking at this is considering whether the Bible has been provided, whether all nations (speaking groups), have access to the Word of God - the Scriptures, especially the New Testament Gospels. There are still many people groups (nations) languages that do not have a single portion of God's Word. Preached is there though, clearly. So preaching, reaching to all the earth is a key. Another way of looking at this is Revelation 7:9 "9 After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all the tribes, peoples, and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands;" So, it seems, that there is more work to do. Wycliffe Bible Translators in conjunction with the Summer Institute of Linguistics - it's sister organization - is hard at work on this. You can google them. Their headquarters moved out of California to Florida some years back.

@@gregb3457 I am trying to look at this from a timeless perspective. The Bible has to be read in context, looking at the whole scripture. ]Luke 20:24-28 and Romans 11:25-26 hold a very important key to when Christ's return will take place, and it has to go together with all the verses about the end times. It is not so hard to look at the history of Israel to observe the times. One of the signs that the time of the gentiles is fulfilled is the return of Jerusalem to the Jews. Which we know happened already in 1948. The next thing is the return of the Jews to Christ. Which is exactly what is happening now, like never before in the history of the Jews. Does that mean we are not to keep going to the end of the World and share the Gospel? No, but it does mean that according to God, the time of the gentiles is fulfilled. We will see a lot less conversions among gentiles than in the first 1400 years after Christ. Now it is Israel's turn to come to Christ, and it seems God is working greatly in Israel, and to the heart of the Jews around the world.

@@gregb3457 I will start with a quote from Wikipedia under christian Jews "The 19th century saw at least 250,000 Jews convert to Christianity according to existing records of various societies. According to data which was provided by the Pew Research Center, as of 2013, about 1.6 million adult American Jews identify themselves as Christians, and most of them identify themselves as Protestants. According to the same data, most of the Jews who identify themselves as some sort of Christian (1.6 million) were either raised as Jews or are Jews by ancestry. According to a 2012 study, 17% of Jews in Russia identify themselves as Christians." 20 st century saw a lot of Jews coming to Christ in Russian provinces. Those suffered a lot through communism and there is nobody to write their story, so their nr. is lost. Here is a ministry very present on youtube "www.youtube.com/@ONEFORISRAEL There is another one that I can't remember right now, very present on youtube too, especially reaching out to young Jews. Here is a good article about jewish believers. www.chosenpeople.com/are-jewish-believers-in-jesus-a-recent-phenomenon-or-a-historic-trend/ Hope this helps. According to history the 10 40 window has been evangelized before 1400s AD, only to see a severe decline due to severe persecution, rise of islam and corruption in the church.

@@gloriamontgomery1667 This is all true, but it is also fair to say that there is a strong aversion to the gospel in most Jews of Jerusalem, where proselytising is on its way to being made illegal. This will be true until the time of the anti-Christ, when the last remaining Jews will realise Jesus is the true Messiah and will be forced to flee to the mountains of Assyria to survive.

I'm pleased to hear about these findings, but as others have pointed out here Syriac is spoken by Assyrians (Ashuria) native of Mesopotamia. I'm not surprised to hear they also wrote in Turk language since Assyrian have been inhabiting that area before the Turks came from Eurasian Steppe. As for rosette flower on the bracelet, that signifies the star Venus, the morning star mentioned in the Bible. A 'Stela' depicting Shamshi-Adad V, King of the Neo-Assyrian Empire, wearing an alternative pre-Christian cross symbol 800 years before Jesus Christ was born. This maybe a big clue of what I would call a continuing of tradition of people that date back 3K years ago.

Not at all true. The Church of the East was the ORIGINAL church. The evil corruption that is the Roman church is in no way what Christianity is truly about. The Church of the East are the custodians of the original New Testament text - written in Aramaic. And it seems especially the Jacobite sect has kept the most accurate version of the text. They have meticulously copied this text through the many centuries. The Greek text that the West is based on has thousands of variations in the manuscripts. That's why so many fights exist. Have you heard of the KJO people? Truly misguided and wrong.
