Yup the second place of this tribute rightfully belongs to dalaric. I love this duo soooo much. No matter how many times Damon screwed up and how much Alaric wanted to kill him I believe their bond could never be entirely broken.

I used to love their friendship so much. But I don't know how the writters just destroy their friendship in the last 2 seasons.

3:49 - underrated example of Damon's selflessness. He rushed to help Alaric after he was attacked by Kai, not even thinking about the fact that he crossed the anti-magic line. He could've/should've died, but he was singularly focused on helping Ric.

It’s an interesting thing to realize about how Damon’s relationships all evolved from this point of rocky beginning including Alaric, Bonnie, Caroline, Stefan, and Elena. The only one who never goes from one to the other is Matt.
