omg this is the perfect debloating video, almost all the other ones make you delete everything, which leads to so many unnecessary problems later on. this was just perfect, keeping only what's needed. thankyou
@MilijanDavidović
@MilijanDavidović 5 ай бұрын
You don't have to delete anything. It's actually not good to delete something that is deeply embedded in the system. Deblotting, in the sense of removing system-internal data, is nonsense and leads to a security risk. Either your PC can handle Windows 11 or not and you buy a new computer and install Windows 10 or even Windows 8.1 or you consider installing Linux. Either way, it's better than making a system worse and better.
@RealMephres
@RealMephres Ай бұрын
@@MilijanDavidovićI don't think you know what "debloating" really means, then. Besides, most programs in Win10/11 aren't "deeply embedded", they're simply pre-installed, and the ones you can't uninstall via traditional means tend to still not be as deeply embedded as you think they are. Also: no, a computer from 2013 should be able enough to run modern Windows versions, Microsoft just loves to eat your resources for no reason. Debloating is the only fix here.
@MilijanDavidović
@MilijanDavidović Ай бұрын
@@RealMephres Sorry, but that's for real Bullshit. I know what, windows need to be secure and safe to use and when you debolte system tasks, you can kill your operation system and for sure an 2013 PC is not to good to use for win 11 . Use Linux or windows 7
@extinctwarriorrace1755
@extinctwarriorrace1755 Ай бұрын
@@MilijanDavidovićThe only reason of why a 2013 can't run modern versions of Windows is because Windows itself is bloat! There is a lot of stuff embedded in Windows that are just sucking space just because. The fact that a 2013 can run Linux or Windows 7 is the fact itself. The OSes became heavier not because they do more tasks and are better but just because Microsoft bloated their OS to start sucking data out of their customers. Because the product is not Windows itself, is the customers' data. Windows 7 already was a complete OS, everything else is just unnecessary. Hell, most people would still be using Windows 7 if Microsoft allowed it and the PCs became with it like they used to and no one would ever complain. Every Windows after Windows 7 is bloat itself.

The lesser bloated initial installation can also be done through OOBE "Microsoft-Windows-International-Core" setting SystemLocale and UserLocale to "en-001". This seems to work even if you download a non-English ISO version. The advantage of the unattend OOBE configuration is that you can create a more streamlined OOBE setup installation and bypassing online account. The OOBE can be managed as the unattend XML file. There's good amount of options that can be configured by the file.

That way I can run Windows in a VM as if it was not in a VM. And I don't need to keep rebooting everytime I want to switch systems. Other advantage is to use Windows just with the bare minimum you need there and keep everything else on your main linux device.

@@prntm926 well, rn I upgraded my computer so I have an i9-12th gen, 64gb ram, rtx 4090. But to have a good experience in a VM I think that you'll need a CPU with at least 8 cores and at least 16gb ram. That way you can put half your cores and ram at the VM and still have your main system running smoothly, never tryed with less than this. Also if your processor dont come with an internal GPU (if your intel CPU has the F in it it doesnt come with a built in GPU) you'll also need to have a 2nd gpu to run the system, since when you do GPU passtrough your gpu will be used by the VM exclusively. Any low profile GPU is enough btw, you dont need an expensive GPU to run your linux. Also, depending on how many things you'll want running on your linux meanwhile you're with your VM you may be able to have less cores and ram in your main system since linux dont consume much, you'll figure out the right good enough ammount in your system to make it run both at the same time without problem in a lower price PC.

From a purely design standpoint, having the start menu in the center makes far more sense, unless you're sitting to the side of your monitor. It puts the thing directly in front of your vision where it should be. Pro tip: No matter where the Start Button is located on the screen, the Windows key on the keyboard never moves. Use it instead. Once the menu pops up, you can just start typing the name of the program you need right from there, and when autofill gets to the one you need, just hit Enter/Return -- it's significantly faster and easier than poking around with a cursor.

My custom iso is down to 68 processes on first startup, and the difference in responsiveness is noticeable on all of my systems. Cortana, Edge, and a handful of autostart processes are the biggest culprits, tho. With the biggest offenders gone there's not much of a difference between a system that has sub-90 processes after boot and one that's sub 70. But with all of MS's crap gone, even after installing tons of 3rd party software packages and bringing the number of processes at idle back up to 160+ ... my workstation's homebrew OS still feels snappier than it did with just a blank default W11 install.

I scrutinized the 2nd try making sure i didn't miss anything. There were no errors at all and everything went like clockwork. The only thing I felt might have caused an error would have been that I was forced to set this computer up as a Personal computer instead of Work or School. (there is more but that's for another discussion) Overall it has a great feel. No Windows 7 look, more like a small Windows 10 start panel. other than that it worked fine until reboot which never happened. Now for the good news, I joined Chris Titus Tech to show you my appreciation and thank you for taking your personal time making these videos.

I hate the default win11 start menu. It's missing basic functionality that was available in previous windows versions, like ungrouping taskbar items, no recommend section, full screen. Looked for a solution and found "stardock start 11" its not free but not expensive, I use it every day money well spend

"Open-Shell Menu" is a free StartMenu replacer that works well in Win10+11. It allows you to replace the default (annoying!!) Win10/11 menu with a more functional WinXP/Win7 style one 👍

If you (like me) encounter problems accessing Windows Security (Windows Defender) when you’re done with your clean install using this method, it may be due to the fact choosing ”Set up for work or school” and then ”Domain join instead” will actually create an Active Directory account, also called a domain account (which means stored in Active Directory not in SAM) instead of (what I guess most of us want) creating a Local Account which is really Local to the computer.

so how do we create a Local Account which is really Local to the computer??

@@JoshuaGutz I followed Method 2 in this guide: (cannot post links and Google is too smart so it notice the link even if I split it up) so: you need to go to the website windowscentral, and add this resource at the end ”/how-set-windows-11-without-microsoft-account” As you can see the trick is to write admin instead of your microsoft account mail when asked to log in with it. That will trigger the possibility to create a Local account. Microsoft does not make this easy for us haha. I should also mention this worked when I fresh installed Windows 11 Pro 23H2 about 2-3 months ago. Hope it still works otherwise they’ve done some dumb update to remove this trick😅 Sorry for the delayed answer! Hope this helps!

Love how this guides debloats half the processes running in the background and nixes Microsoft Edge out for good as well ! 👍 I'm also with the same mind set of not using too many 3rd party apps like Explorer Patcher or Start11 to change the look of the Start Menu back to Windows 7 as it caused rebooting to desktop issues 3 weeks back after Windows update.

Fine work! It would be nice to see options for both versions or Teams, as well as showing them both on the disable page. Secondly, under MS software, add O365 if possible. It would be nice to see the store disabled but still have direct access to the O365 app.

I reinstall windows on my laptop every year. Instead of going to the settings and running your tweaker every single time, I want to modify the windows installation media. Maybe modifying the EI.cfg file or something can be done to achieve the solution. After running your tweaker for the 1st time it creates a config-user file which when packaged with the windows installation media, it can install the tweaks next time automatically. Is there a way to do this? By the way I love your tweaking utility.

Thank you so much for this video, because what it taught me was on a perfect install of Windows, there's aspects of the operating system that simply bother me to the point of not enjoying my time spent on my PC and the only answer is Linux. I know you're not a big fan of Ubuntu, and maybe in time I'll share your perspective as to why it's inferior to Debian (quite honestly a vid outlining how to transition from a newbie distro to your "S" tier distros and what would be gained by doing such would be awesome) but all I know is, I boot into Ubuntu and it reminds me of how I felt falling in love with computers in the early 90s. This video and process of creating the perfect install, debloated, privacy firewall configured to perfection and backed up for a rainy day has taught me at best, what I've configured is optimized ignorance, as the very ethos of Windows, what it is and how it generates profit for Microsoft, is completely antithetical to your security, privacy and control over the system you paid for.
