Christmas Day With The Horses! Magical Snow Ride on My Friesian X!

Жыл бұрынHey Horse Lovers, MERRY CHRISTMAS! We had a BIG WINTER STORM hit the farm. The storm brought some snow but the most alarming part was the high winds and negative temps. In this video I am going to show you how we managed the farm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We will always strive to keep the horses happy, healthy, and warm. It sure was a lot of work to get the horses get out of the wind, eat plenty of hay, drink water, and monitor them throughout the days, but it's worth it for their safety. The BEST part of this multi-day storm was the SNOW that came on Christmas Day. The winds settled and it was warmer (20 degrees plus) so we were able to go on a WINTER HACK IN THE SNOW ON CHRISTMAS DAY! IT WAS A DREAM COME TRUE. Riding in the snow looks so magical that it almost makes me forget you had to set up nine stalls with bedding, feed, and water, bring in nine horses one at a time, remove their blankets and check them over, come back later and check on them then another check in before bed and then getting up in the morning and starting again. Only love makes someone work that hard.

„Give Buzz one more!“ He is already so loved, glad he is doing so much better, too! So glad everyone is safe and happy. In Southern Germany we often have lots of snow and really cold days. Usually we didn’t blanket the horses. But sometimes if they are old, sick, not in a good body condition or simply not used to being outside in the weather it was necessary. And to keep them inside when necessary - totally ok. The winter wonderland ride was stunning! I loved those rides so much, too. Arlo is gorgeous - and he seemed to be a gaited horse. Beautiful!

Shae: "Running a barn is not for the faint of heart!" Hear that! Your energy is indefatigable and just amazing. Blowing on the gate locks makes more sense than dousing with water. The horses wondered what you were doing. Air is a better melt on the ice! 💯❣

@@freespiritequestrian Only you would show this technique online, but it makes perfect sense, but have to say that the expressions on the three horses at the lock were priceless, "What are you doing, Mom?" They pointed their noses down into that crevice area of the lock and the gate and were really getting into the whole operation. Needed that laugh!

Latecomer here. Not only do I like your relationship and skill with the horses, but your skill with video editing. You are a fast person all around and so are the videos. You seem to have a knack for knowing what redundancy to cut out, and how quickly we can absorb information. I get bored with long videos and if I don’t catch everything you say the first time, I know I’ll hear it again in a new video or it’s been discussed before. I don’t remember when I was 31, but I don’t think I EVER had your energy!

Just loved this magical episode and music was grrrrreat! I wish more horse owners took care of their horses like you do….and I thought Jafar looked nice and relaxed while being ridden….also liked how your husband talked to Arlo - that way verrry cool….some men can be heavy handed and too firm….Lastly, you looked absolutely gorgeous with your hair curled and your red lipstick and nails….and in the snow. Your video brought me back to a day long ago when I was riding a black Shetland pony named Skeeter bareback in the snow. It was so warm and cozy burrowing into his shaggy winter coat during the ride. We even went over a few low jumps and I think he actually had more fun than I did! 🐴 Thanks for bringing back that fond memory 🥰 and Happy New Year to you too 🍾🥂😛!!!

I feel you! Our three Appaloosa's were up for 2 days. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. It got brutal here in Northwest Tennessee, much more than our guys are used to! The average is 30-45 degrees and we had 2 days of negatives. Our guys had been wearing there blankets for two days before the really nasty hit, but it had only been in the teens then. Yucky. We agree about the winter care, it doesn't matter how you feel, you get out and do it! Yes, three or four times a day people! It is a must! As my husband and I slowly get to the 60 year mark, we still do it all ourselves. I'd never trust anyone, except our daughter to follow every rule we put down for the horses safety, so yes, we stll do it ourselves. We no longer ride in the winter, unless it's in the 50's or 60's outside. Occasionally we'll due a New Years ride, but the weather has to be nice. Last year it rained, so we aborted that idea, lol! I’m new subscriber compared to this video. Now June 3, 2024. Been threading your videos, and heard you refer to diff horses (& Buzz-1st time seeing him today!) that have moved on to their new home after going thru your program!!❤💫❤️ Army brat here so moved every 2-3 yrs, got to be in Ft Devens, near Ayer, Mass. the base had a barn/stalls that my beastie went to & introduced me too. Winter Wonderland was we walked from our homes (on base) to the Stables (to muck out & be near the horses), listening to Olivia Newton Johns “Magic” after snow had fallen, not all roads cleared & still snowing!! LOVED!! That is we’re I saw my 1st Appaloosa!! ❤❤❤

Poor Buzz, he's too short to see over the sides of the stall and see what's going on. He can hear things and guess. Smell, too. He'll be happy to get out where he can see everything again. Sweet boy!

I don’t have any horses of my own as I am disabled. I absolutely love watching all your videos as you take us along in your journey as an equestrian. I don't know your disability or your location but you might find that a stable complex might have something available for you to participate in. We used to Have the RDA. Riding for the Disabled. I personally know of a couple of people with disabilities who do have horses but they do have access to help and do not strictly do all the care themselves.

Thank you for your videos. It has really encouraged me to get back around horses ...and not give up on owning my own...probably aim at owning a fit 12 year old plus....a horse that will look after me and others at a responsible rda stable Rda= riding for the disabled association Plan to write books for children to find it ... Hope it goes well. The horses at this stables go up to 34 years old with others being 17/19/23 year mark. Even looking at the horses on their website I'm in love with many of their yards horses...and the owner is great and very understanding.

It was insane weather. I like it that you keep the horse out all the time. In the storm you just can’t. I know horses are supposed to able to survive in that. But your horses are not used to it.

My three mules did great. My fat paint did great. They hung out in the barn free style. My saddle bred needed a blanket and a interior stall but was happy. I wanted to ride bareback but way too cold here on the prairie. Fun channel.

I'd bet all the horses who didn't get out for a ride are disappointed and hope they're next! Short little Buzz might not be so thrilled to be out on the trail because his tummy might drag in snow and get wet and cold. Or does that matter? Oh course, he's not ready to ride yet. He might like a free run in the covered arena. Probably a good roll, too. Oh, yes, they'd all like that!

Hello, it’s October, 2023 when I’m seeing this, but Merry Christmas from Florida! I grew up in Canada/New York State, so I appreciated vicariously experiencing the wind and snow! 😃. My wish for you this Christmas is automatic waterers for your barn, lol - The pipes would have to be wire-wrapped and insulated for heating, but I remember winter barn care for my horse and the frozen fingers and toes, too well, it would be worth it! Never hurts to put it out to the universe, anyway!😉. I enjoyed seeing your beautiful horses and your ride through the snowflakes on Christmas morn, though sorry to hear Jafar will be leaving you … May I be the first to wish you all a Merry Christmas 2023! ❤ oxoxox

One thing I did to help my instructor was to volunteer on days like this to help out. Clean stalls bring in horses get them comfy. Maybe see if any of ur girls would like to do the same this next winter. Or year round. Might lighten your load

I live in Oregon, now; but I’m originally from Minnesota. In high school, I had a small horse named, Diamond Lil. I loved her, and my rides in the snow. Thank you, for the gift of a stroll down Memory Lane. ❤️

I wish the boarding facility I keep my horses at had an indoor arena. A really cool and nifty thing to have during the cold months!!! Thanks for all of your videos.
