Great posting, it brings up our Albanian solidarity and respect for our brothers and sisters (other) religion. Albanians have learned through their history to accept the religion of the other; we respect our friends and neighbors; Muslims celebrate or go visiting their Christian friends and neighbors during Christmas and Easters; and so do the Christians on Bayram. Prominent families exhnaged their son's names; the Muslim father named his son Kristo (Christ) and the Christian father named his son a muslim name Skender. Our Medieval hero, George Castrioti, so called Skanderbeg, was born an Orthodox, was converted in captivity to Muslim, and upon returning to his homeland became a Catholic. Religion is sacred for most of Albanians, but it is more of a personal relationship, and not a public dominance.

Religion is the not the main identity of Albanians, and most of what are declared as Muslims, they are declared so simply b/c their last names are muslims due to 500 years Ottoman influence. To this category of people, which make a good percentage, all religions are the same. The combination of these to factors is the source of the tolerance, harmony, beauty and uniqueness.

Jesus is a Muslim prophet in Islam & in Christianity Jesus is a Christian God. So Muslims & Christians do respect Jesus but in slightly different way. I am an Albanian blooded American and I'm an Atheist & very proud of that (thank you Enver Hoxha). Just in case my fellow Albanians in Albania don't know this but the Christmas celebration the way we know it now is not Christian at all but secular American invention & it started around 150 years ago in New York City. It all started with a Macy's Department store in Manhattan to sell more products so they redesigned Christmas to look more festive and sell more clothes & toys, so they can make money. And as we know it now -- it worked very well. LOL
