Your welcome, I enjoy Intarsia but would recommend you start with a small project. A larger project will look and be cooler but it takes so much time that it could get frustrating. A small project will allow you to accomplish the build as well as learn about some of the issues you'll face and how to handle them without getting you overwhelmed. Than you can upsize as your comfort level increases. Welcome to an amazing hobby. Regards, Bob

Hi, really loved your video and will start tracking back through your old episodes. I have recently retired and looking for a new hobby and this has been on my list but having watched your work I feel this is the stuff of champion. Our family has decided that Xmas is getting too expensive nowdays and loosing alot of the real meaning so we have decided on a homemade project for next year and I reckon it is just the most splendid idea. I will follow your work with a keen sense of anticipation. Have great Xmas to you and your family from us all here in NSW, AUS

+Gordon Agent Hello Gordon, I think your family is on the right track and homemade gifts will be much more appreciated. My one suggestion with Intarsia is to start with a small one, maybe 10 pieces or so. That way you can make sure it's for you before you invest the time. They can take a bit of time to make. Here's a link to a video from my other channel where I show the ones I've made: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qptgeLaByrWuaGg.html Here's a link to an Intarsia Vlog there I step through a build: kzfaq.info/sun/PLd8OGJeP3PxmYA45FFx8sK65wAkp4cnXa Regards, Bob

Thank you Fredrik, Intarsia is a labor of Love. It takes many hours of cutting, shaping, and sanding but the end result is always beautiful. My wife treasures all of the Intarsia's I have done for her. She even leaves the CHRISTmas themed ones hanging all year. I trust you and your family had a very Merry CHRISTmas and wish you a Happy and Prosperous New Year. Regards, Bob

You're going to get sick of my name popping up, haha. This is so beautiful! We bought our house almost a year ago, and around Christmas time, we were walking through the neighborhood and stopped to talk with a neighbor who does all kinds of wood cut outs and birds and such. He showed us what he called his "Christmoose" that he had hanging in his shop - I fell in love with him. Its an Intarsia. (If you do a google search for "Christmoose Intarsia" it was the first result for me) When we were getting ready to leave, he walked over, took the moose down and handed him to me and told me to take good care of him. He refused to let us pay him, so we ended up going back and buying one of his birds. =) I love all things Winter and Christmas, but that Christmoose is probably my favorite thing ever. I love that a neighbor made him by hand and it wasnt mass produced in some factory somewhere. Sorry this was so long, just wanted to share my moose intarsia! =)

+Sarah P Thank you for sharing, I love hearing about other woodworkers and I especially love hearing from people who appreciate hand crafted items. Quite a lot of love goes into every hand crafted piece and that's something you just don't get from a mass produced plastic item. The only thing people who make like to do as much as making is talk about their craft. You feel free to talk, ask, and comment as offer as you like. I only make the Christmas Intarsia's for my wife, it's kind of a tradition. I make her a gift every year. Intarsia is a labor of love because it takes so long to make. I've never sold one and probably never will only because I can't bear to part with something I spent so much time on. They become a part of you. Regards, Bob

Canny, You are going to love that Dewalt, it is an amazing tool. I purchased the Snow Couple pattern here: store.workshopsupply.com/catalogue/worthington-house-snow-couple-intarsia-pattern-p-2648.html This was the first time I have bought from them. I usually buy from Judy Gail Roberts and her patterns are much easier to follow. That was a fantastic video that was not only interesting to me but most informative of how to make an intarsia picture. I have not made any such work before as I have been making lots of bandsaw boxes and having fun with those in my retirement. I will certainly be looking at more of your excellent work an learning more. Thank you so much and I hope that you and your family have a very Happy Christmas and the the New Year will be good for you all. Can you recommend a project or two for a complete bginner, wo has bandsaw, scrollsaw, sanding gear and enthuiasm please? Malcolm Birmingham UK

Hello Malcom, Thank you for your kind comments. I don't have a specific project but I would recommend starting with a project with a smaller number of pieces. Intarsia, while enjoyable can be tedious. A smaller project will allow you to accomplish the project in a reasonable amount of time. I think completing that first project is key to determining whether Intarsia is for you. Kathy Wise, Judy Gail Roberts, and Bruce Worthing are all great patter sites. Also Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts magazine did have done simple patterns. I hope this helps. Regards, Bob
