This year, it's been so much fun to work in a space that is ... well, “feels”... 18 feet wide.
We're starting with the addition of newly installed floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall mirrors at my staircase. Together, we will decorate with gorgeous garlands along the banister and then an awkward corner space with a potted tree. Then we'll address the narrow console adjacent to my stairwell with Christmas-themed art and accessories.

The mirrors in the front hall (regardless of seasonal decor) are EVERYTHING! Wow! What a game-changer! The hallway/entrance looks even more grand than it did before! The staircase with the mirrored wall is magnificent. Although most of us can't do something that expensive and grand, it gives us/me inspiration to do things like this on a smaller scale. Oh, yeah! I've gotten so many ideas about technique and design in less than 30 minutes. Your theme is a winner and truly beautiful! And, I'll confess, I was reserving judgement about the whole mirrored wall thing (I grew up in the 1970s when that was just not done well). But it's wonderful! Yes the mirrors were a great idea. It opens up the hall and reflects the Garland. It truly looks like a double bannister. We have done our garland many ways like you have. The past several years, do to back issues, we have place it on the outside of the bannister on the risers or floor. Everyone likes it.

Since the mirrors are staying, I thought of what I did in my bathroom. I had 2 large mirrors installed then had a 4 inch beveled mirror strips glued to where the glass is joined. It is a very finished look… ❤

The mirror reflection is fabulous! May want to put a sign on your door, “no drunks allowed”. I vote for keeping the handrail where it’s accessible for balance going up and down the stairs, but also giving room for ascending and descending.

The mirror idea is fabulous. It doubles the appearance of the stair width. It reflects the image of the inner garlands to give the illusion of an exact match of the garland on the other ( wall hand rail illusion) side of the stair rail. I think though another exact garland should be hung in tandem with the lower garland on the outside of the lower rail as well. It will carry the same look into the hallway.

Im a Christmas crazy lady too! I do different themes every year. Missed a few years back because i was so sick but im better this year and have spent everyday since February dealing with/ making Christmas ornaments. Yesterday my mother complained about the constant glitter. I told her when i can be on my own again, she won't see glitter ever again from me. She rolled her eyes. 😂😂 ok. Im going to go back to listening to this video while i make red velvet cheesecake slices as ornaments.

Rebecca, I really enjoy watching your videos on anything that you do. The mirror wall was a no brainer, that was a good call to transform that space into a show stopper. I purchased my home 17 years ago, and there was one wall of mirrors in the living room and one wall of mirrors in the dining room. I left the mirrors up because it made the two rooms look so much bigger, I will never take them down. Keep doing what you do because you are awesome!
