I never expected a travel/thrifting video to make me cry, but I cried through most of this one. I spent a lot of my childhood in Germany and have memories of attending some of these same Christmas markets with my Tante and Oma. And taking that very long walk up to the castle (in the summer) with my dad, who referred to King Ludwig as “Crazy Louie.” This video had me longing for good German food, and family members who are no longer here. So many happy memories. Thank you for making this video. ❤

I grew up going to Weinachten markets every year from 72 to 96. Loved it. As an adult I bought my daughter hand blown ornaments for her hope chest. Now she has them on her tree.

I actually got teary-eyed from the scenery and the beautiful markets. The Christmas spirit is strong there. I love the architecture! We have nothing like it here in America. My ancestors are German, and I'd love to see Germany. I think in my next life I'd like be born in Germany or Austria.

Oh Laura, I'm 73 and in 1955-56 my family lived in Bavaria, Garmisch, Germany. We visited the castle and I have a photo of my sister and I posed with a lion in the front. I have no idea what the lion was all about but that's how the photo was taken! It was a magical time.

German Xmas markets display a lot of handcrafted Xmas items. And quite many of them don’t even allow machine made, mass produced, products. That makes the German Xmas markets so special. My favourite one is in Rothenburg ob der Tauber.

We lived in Germany growing up (early 70s) and many years we went on the train to Nurnberg for the Christkindlmarkt. Weinachten in Vienna meant going to see the Vienna Boys Choir singing traditional Weinachtslieder - so hauntingly beautiful! We never visited the Schlossneuschweinstein (yes we jokingly substituted schwein for schwan, lol) in winter - beautiful! Thanks so much for bringing back so many fond memories of the sights, sounds and smells, and of course all the great holiday foods.

This was amazing to watch. I have been obsessed with going to the Christmas markets for years. I made plans with some work colleagues, and then covid hit. My husband thinks I'm nuts since I barely decorate for Christmas, don't overindulge in food, don't shop for fun and love warm weather. Yet.... I'm practically in tears watching this.

Went on a guided tour of Neuschawnstein in Germany when I was 20 years old. It was breathtaking when it came into view. The inside is something to behold and all of these years later, I can still picture the rooms, furniture, drapes, tapestries and art. The skill and time spent hand sewing silk drapes using thread spun from real gold and silver left an impression for sure. One bed was hand carved from wood and featured miniature church steeples on the canopy from all across Germany. Took 16 years to complete and Ludwig passed before it was finished. You're living life to the fullest so happy for you.

Before opening Disneyland in 1955, Walt Disney and his wife took a trip to Europe and visited Neuschwanstein Castle. It was here that Disney received his inspiration for the Sleeping Beauty Castle. Not Cinderella

That visit to the Bavarian castle was a special thrill to me. All my childhood, we had a picture of that beautiful castle on our wall. Budapest looked especially interesting. Swimming outdoors in the winter - awesome.

It was wonderful to travel the Christmas markets with you! I was in Prague during Christmas 1999, but have not made it to any of the others. As for the roasted chestnuts, you can get them in Portland! I know they had them at Portland Nursery.

This video brought back memories. I did a tour of the Christmas Markets over 20 years ago. Christmas in Europe just feels magical. The sights, the smells...the food!!! When you go again try and find "Dampfnudel". They are a sweet yeast dough dumpling steamed in milk with sugar. The bottoms form this delicious browned crust while cooking. Typically served with vanilla sauce (like I saw on your Apple Strudel) and fruit. Delicious😋 You captured it all so beautifully. Felt like I was there again.Thanks for sharing your perspective of these beautiful places.

Thank you Laura for some wonderful memories. I lived in Heidelberg for 3 years and loved the Christmas markets in Europe in particular. You are right that the smaller towns and villages have more hand-made, bespoke items. I also recommend Maastricht and Valkenburg in Holland and Prague. Magical to have the history of the ages combined with Christmas spirit and markets and food. I’m so glad you got to fulfill your dreams, as did I when I lived there between 89-92 in my late 20’s early 30’s. Thanks again.❤🎄🎄❤️

This was absolutely breathtakingly beautiful Laura 😍 I'm not a fan of cold weather, I live in Western Australia, so it's a very hot Christmas ahead for us here. However, this looked so worth it 😅 Thank you so much for taking us along. I would be twice my size on leaving with all that glorious food! I have watched you thrifting and vintage hunting in the US. This video is just magical! I am a Finn living in Salzburg Austria but the way you portray these Christmas markets takes my breath away! I am speachless.Wow! Really amazing! It is pretty here in the summer and spring too - I recommed it. You could maybe also do a series where you go trift hunting in Europe? Do you shio from your Shop also overseas? As a Finn I am really happy that you have Finnish products too.

I am with you on the cooler weather travelling. I've been on several trips with my boots and long underwear. It's usually less crowded as well.

I always forget how beautiful the state is I was born in - Bavaria ! THANKS SO MUCH for visiting Hohenschwangau ( the yellow castle of Ludwig's parents) and Neuschwanstein. I would love to meet you on your next trip but ....... I spend my winters on a small island republic in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. :)) !

Thank you for sharing. I use a walker and am unable to travel like this however, through ur trips I enjoy this beautiful wonderful experience. I now feel like I was there. If not for ur video I truly would miss out . Thanks again
