He destroys every business he works for because he doesn't have the common sense to let other people do the job if they know what they're doing better than him.

What? He's really selfish! He puts himself first constantly.. He just expect people to accept his behaviour & agree to his non planned events for no money at all.. He promises people stuff put of nowhere & them he dumps it on the rest of the staff.. Like the "biggest scone" thing.. He called a journalist & promised britains biggest scone & after that he goes & ask the chef it's even possible to do.. And he gives like no notice ahead of time, the chef had 2 days to suddenly cram that on top of all the "normal" day to day work.. Same with the wrestling "show".. And the indian night.. Every single event is the first impulse that appears in his brain & he makes it impossible from the start! There is no way to succeed when you do it like he does! No time, no teamwork, nothing. It's like watching a neurotic child trying to get an event togheter..

He's utterly hopeless.. he does it all in completely wrong order. First he promeses a guest/newspaper/random person something & then he goes back to the hotel & now he HAS to get everyone else onboard bcs he already promised.. He is taking advantage of his staffs emphaty, but when he does it over & over & over again. He has 0 respect fpr anyone else or their work.. He would never book a hotel with the same standard as his, but expect others to be fine, pay up to be & sleep in that nasty place.. Selfish & egocentric.. I can't see any charm in him..

I managed hotels for 40 years. I have many an Alison in reservations. They have all the contacts to obtain business for the hotel and therefore holds a certain power over the Management and knows it. If she was sacked and went to a competitor she would take all her contacts with her. This is how she gets away with her behaviour. I can’t stand the women. Sick over Christmas my foot.

He won't because he run them all into the ground. For example, he bought out his competitors and tried to compete against himself on the same street. However, he was constantly running back and fourth trying to run them all at the same time. He was, and is a nice guy. Just not the best business guy.

Me too! I would love to have a pint with all of the staff. Feels like you know them all after a while. Which is why it gets upsetting to realize that they dont all live in the hotel 24/7.

You have a weird idea of a great boss. He is the worst kind of boss imaginable. Doesn't keep staff informed, overrides staff repeatedly, inconsistent in the way he deals with things so staff have no idea of what he wants, the list is endless.

@@ianmorris7485 I agree... I think one of his biggest mistakes is to be friends with staff members. He is way too friendly with them. As the boss, he should keep a little distance from staff. He can still be nice and respectful towards them. He has a need to be liked by them but this can cause big problems. How do you tell a friend that they are not doing their job right or give other criticism... Also, I would never have staff members yell at me as the booking manager does all the time. She would have been fired from my firm a long time ago!

To be fair, the vegetarian guest only advised Hime on the day she arrived. Not his fault, at least he went out of his way to try and do something for her.

@@samdasilva1914 That is true, however, they should have had vegan/veggie options on the menu anyway. Now, we don't know who designed the menu, but I'm sure Mark would have seen the menu before hand, and had input in it, and should have picked up there was no veggie option. If someone came up last minute and asked for a glutenfree option, that's a little more forgivable. Basically, the hotel should have asked guests at booking to ask what they wanted for their meal, or at least, any dietary needs.

I used to make bacon butties for my colleagues on my birthday. Never offered vegetarian option as the vegetarian ate meat. She moaned no vegetarian option but stuff her she secretly ate meat.
