Hi Adam! As a life-long (69 years) Walton resident, I spent most of my childhood exploring the Naze, and I'd often come home with pockets full of sharks teeth and fossil shells 😁. Of course, a huge amount of the Naze has been lost the sea in that time, and conditions are constantly changing - one day there'll be plenty of sand and gravel on the beach, then a few days later it's all washed away to leave just London Clay (hence why we have breakwaters/groynes to stop the sand shifting). But yes, as a kid, I would drop to my knees on the gravel beds, and scan them with my eyes! Even now, it only takes me a few seconds to spot a tooth! Those gravel beds are also a good place to find coins and rings!! 💰💍 My best find ever was a 4" long tooth, back in the 70's, which I donated to the local Natural History Museum! 😊 So good luck, and keep on hunting!

Thanks Colin, teeth of that size at the Naze you can be almost sure they’re from a sand tiger shark. Not the ones we have today but an extinct species! Probably should have said that in the video haha.

Hi, thanks for commenting. It’s so hard to say to be honest, it can be hit or miss some days. They’re always there it just depends how the tides have moved sand around. My advice would be to check the Facebook page called “Things found at Walton on the naze” to see what people are finding recently.

Definitely my 8 year old son found about 30 over two days last week once you find one you will find loads
