Күн бұрын

Pure Flix and Alec Baldwin's brother walk into a Christmas tree....And out popped this movie! With a star studded cast, like Ted McGinley and Brad Stine, is it enough to win the war to save Christmas?! That's what Kevin is set out to find in this in-depth exploration of Christmas with a Capital C.

I love how these movies take a situation where the "Good guys" are legally wrong, and then turn it into standing up for god, and not the constituotion they every other time seem to worship heh

Yeah, that's how insanely bad the writing is in these stupid Christian movies. Honestly, I wish I could ONE movie that isn't Prince of Egypt or King of Dreams that is actually good
@wolfwing1
@wolfwing1 7 жыл бұрын
not seen king of dreams, but ones I like are. Book of Eli, VERY Christian film, but still very much kick ass. Omega code 2: Meggido, think left behind but done well and more sticking to the spirit of the end times, rather then all the baggage like the rapture and such. Also prety well done, special effects and such are cheesy now, but for the time it was pretty good closer to a hollywood budget and plot. End Of The Line: Weird horror film with a crazy religious message...but I actually liked the plot of it and the twists, though listening to other reviewers, a few have pointed out that there may be a secret twist that changes the entire film if you pay attention. for worst, I have to say life Life Zone, just pure propaganda with a vineer of horror, with a pretty good twist ruined by the message of the movie and the twist.

If you like say goodnight kevin, you might like godawful movies, they are here on youtube I think, they review Christian movies from a atheist slant, right now they did the first 3 tim lahaye films that he did before he started the left behind. Though warning, as they said in one of their opening profanity stingers, "Warning, this profanity may contain a podcast."

"That C comes from a name-" ... Okay I'm not a religious scholar, but last I heard... Christ wasn't part of Jesus's name. IIRC, his birth name was just Jesus, and if people wanted to get specific it was Jesus of Nazareth, denoting where he was born. Christ is a TITLE. /Nitpicking
@ThatRandomEncounterGuy
@ThatRandomEncounterGuy 4 жыл бұрын
“The C comes from Christ”, and totally has nothing to do with it being a proper noun like Halloween, or the Statue of Liberty, or California. Even for a title drop trying to justify the name of the movie, that’s a really shitty line; it’s right up there with Collateral Beauty.

May I offer a recommendation for one of you next reviews? I'd like you to review the Oscar-nominated 2006 documentary, "Jesus Camp". It's not exactly like the other films you've reviewed, but more of an eye-opening (albeit disturbing/intense) look at the evangelical indoctrination of kids. It also provides a lesson on why this kind of indoctrination is wrong, or maybe even child abuse. If you'd rather not, or if it doesn't fit the criteria of the films you usually review, that's fine-this is just a recommendation. P.S., you're videos are great, and your "Left Behind" (2000) review is HILARIOUS!! I hope you have a Merry Christmas, and God bless!! ✝️😃😀🎄

Does Christian Cinema ALWAYS have to preach about something? Is it not considered "Christian" if someone is not being saved or something about the religion isn't rescued in some way? Can't Christian movies just be a story about something that occurs that just happens to maybe have people in it who are Christians? Can't there ever be random shenanigans, or funny road trips, or overcoming a challenge that does not directly involve the church? I'm not being snarky I legitimately want to know, can there just be for example clean movies that have a story, first second, third, act and all? Can't Christians just be entertained sometimes?

I think what would be a more interesting movie is if Christians had to face other Christians. There are 40,000-ish denominations, all with different, often contradicting rules. Chol .Yerlow Yeah, I think its the scripts. Most comedians make jokes out of daily situations, stereotypes, and flipping narritives on their head. But in these films, you cant do that. They would a)steal the show b)and it would derail from their "Christian Message" (because self referential humor is bad I guess). Even just the title of the movie "Christmas with a Capital 'C'" points to just how silly Christians like the ones in this movie are, the ones who cry that "Christ is being taken out of Christmas because now multi-faith/secular holiday displays exist and some people say 'Happy Holidays'!" Um, they are aware that, technically, Christmas has nothing to do with Christ in the first place, right? It's a bunch of traditions from various pagan winter solstice celebrations that got mashed together and repackaged as a Christian holiday; it's not the actual historical day Jesus was born. Sure, by all means, Christians should celebrate Christmas as marking his birthday and what that means for them and their friends and families, but anyone who says "Christ needs to be put back in Christmas" as if Christmas was a completely original Christian holiday that has since been ruined by (fill in the blank) is kidding themselves.

Brad Stine is like a discount TJ Miller. The difference is I'd like to get a drink with Miller. If I got a drink with Stine, he'd lecture everyone about how atheists ruined cheeseburgers or something

TBN is forever showing this movie and somehow I managed to see this movie WAY too many times...I wish I could agree with you on Brad Stine being the best character, but if you've seen his comedy shows (which are awesome, by the way), he's literally word-for-word quoting his own stand up comedy for most of his lines in this movie. Seriously. Search Brad Stine on youtube with the word Christmas and watch his bits on Christmas - it's basically word-for-word. LOL

As a kid, I always just assumed Boxing Day was the day everyone beat each other up over the gifts they didn't like or get all the milk and cookies out of their system. Frankly, I think that's kind of funny and want it to be true. I'm not trying to make any argument here, I just like that interpretation, because that's more or less how our family celebrates it. :)

I will say that on crusades, and nazi germany, yes you could argue that the leaders just used religion as a excuse and a tool, but they did it because it worked, the masses believed it, regardless of the motivations of those in charge, it got those under then to accept and do things because of religion.
@saygoodnightkevin
@saygoodnightkevin 7 жыл бұрын
+wolf wing oh I agree. The masses are a scary bunch. And the pool of collectivist ignorance has killed millions. I always think of the South Park episode where they go into the future and everyone is an Atheist. But there are a bunch of different sects of atheism. It's an interesting point that follows will always find some kind of dogma to latch onto. So many just don't want to think for themselves. People can believe the right thing, but not have any clue why they believe it. I meet these people who treat their beliefs like they are some kind of football team they picked. What I'm getting at is, I agree, but I also don't think it's because of religion. I just think stupid people will always become dogmatic to overcompensate for their own insecurities and ignorance.
@wolfwing1

True, I've put it that I think the real problem is authoritarianism, religion is just probably the worst example, because with god there is no higher authority. And really hard to talk someone out of something they believe, when someone bigger or smarter then them says so. In your example it's the same sort of trouble. Just like communism people like to say those are atheistic regeimes, but I think for many the state replaces god, they just exchanged one form of idolitry for another. I will say this movie was much better then i expected, I was like you expecting the, "Evil atheist is deconverted." and the town triumphs over law because god. I do like that in the end, even if they disagree with the law they went with the legal compromise. I posted it on another video of yours, but I think the rule of thumb on these situtions should be, "If you be angry and upset if a satanisst, or muslim did the thing your upset about not being able to do, maybe you might get why others don't want you doing it." How many in this town would be so happy if it was a muslim mayor wanting to spend tax payer dollras on a ramadan display or such

If you do research, you'd find the crusades were totally justified. Use an actually good argument such as the Teutonic Knights slaughtering Orthodox Christians or the Reconquista. ;)
@wolfwing1

some people will justify them, but the reign of terror they caused enroute isn't really right and such.

wolf wing What reign of terror? There's charts that compare the crusades Christians did, to the Jihads that Muslims did. The Jihads are VASTLY higher. You're telling me that the small amounts of crusades that weren't even that effective are more deadly and terrorizing than the massive amounts of jihads and conquering the Turks did?

"We've had this tradition for over fifty years!" Okay, cool. What if I'm from a town where our tradition is murdering Christians, and we've had this tradition for over _sixty_ years? Having been doing a thing for a long time (and 50 years is nothing compared to the length of human civilization) doesn't make it good or bad or mean you should keep doing it. I mean, it's part of Japan's culture to sexualize minors in a lot of their animated media. I find it gross, sick even. Please stop giving us pantyshots of minors in anime. Some people defend that with "But Shenaldrac, it's their _culture!"_ Yeah it is. And until the 1800s it was the culture of the American south to own black people as property. Something being culture or tradition doesn't have anything to do with right or wrong.

I guess they didn't realize that Christmas was illigal in much of the colonies for quite a few years after the war of Independence. I find it really strange that the government should be involved in any holidays considering it has absolutely nothing to do with government.
