This is strange. I have this same music by "The Al Goodman Orchestra". It's been released under many titles, and it;s one of the most beautiful recordings of Christmas music ever recorded.

Ah, the good old days of vinyl, the slightly offset disc generating a ton of "wow" on the audio, and the record deck adding two penn'o worth! Somehow more believable than today's ultra precise digital audio. I've used the option to remove wow and flutter from audio whilst restoring old music from vinyl and tape - modern software is very good these days - but even though the results can be outstandingly good, it's too "pure" and lacks something that only comes from original media.

Very true. I use analog until the very end... then it is captured digitally. I would even use a quarter or a slug if the record was warped or skipped. It was the start of an engineering process.

I thought I was the only one to notice the wow (I don't hear any flutter, it's usually from tape machines) I made a comment a few hours before yours. To my ears, it's so bad I can't listen, but that's my hang up as I would love to hear this properly.

Whoever uploaded this must have gotten hold of the master tapes. I can't hear any needle-to-record surface noise. This has always been my favorite Christmas album, and this upload sounds better than I've ever heard it before. My thanks to whomever uploaded it!

As in the comment below this has also been released as the Al Goodman Orchestra- I think I have four or five versions on budget labels under various names - beautiful renditions nonetheless!!!

You are correct. Al Goodman to my knowledge was the first credited for this recording. It has appeared on many different albums, covers and directors. I post these because of the different covers that folks might remember. I have also posted the Al Goodman Orchestra from 1959 that you refer to. Thanks for your comment.
