How nice to see a new face in this championship, he really deserves to clinch the title, he beat Adrien Mattenet, the best-ranked player in the ITTF rankings, Simon Gauzy who recently clinched the U21 World Pro Tour title (against Patrick Franziska) and Christophe Legout whose glorious past speaks for itself. It's refreshing to see a player with an original style, combining chops, mid-distance game and a mastery of trickery. Most likely he will be part of the crew participating in the World Team Table Tennis Championship and that's good news!

That's true indeed. Patrick Chila was fond of this style and as you can see Legout does chop in defensive position as well. It's less frequent nowadays though, Simon Gauzy must be the only one to chop sometimes, and he only slices the ball when he receives it after a service in order to bring some variety and discomfort to the opponent. To his credit, It works most of the time, the opponent usually takes the ball into the net or even off the table. Nice to see there's a continuation to this "tradition" thanks to Stephane Ouaiche :)

Interesting game but a lot of improvement is needed inorder to beat the chinese. But was good to watch.
