Man, I feel so lucky to have grown up in the 70's.

Get well Christopher Cross! I'm 63 and I remember exactly where my life was when I heard this song, and then bought the album. I still have it.

The song won Grammy Awards for 1980 Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Arrangement of the Year, and helped Cross win the Best New Artist award.VH1 named "Sailing" the most "softsational soft rock" song of all time.

Christopher Cross and his group spent approximately 600 hours in the studio recording this great album.

Christopher is from my hometown of San Antonio, Texas, so I got to see him perform at a few local venues before he got famous. This video was shot after he had lost about 100 pounds. I remember how surprised people were to hear such an amazingly sensitive voice coming out of such a big guy! (And I can say that because I AM a big guy.)

Ride like the wind, Boys of Autumn, Never be the same, also great Chris Cross songs, but Sailing is in a league of its own. so peaceful, free and beautiful. you can feel the summer breeze in your hair, the sun warming your face, the smell of the open water, see the sparkles like diamonds as you sail, feeling peaceful, joyous and free. This was actually my wedding song in 1986 since it also related to where my husband and I first started working together at a summer job, we traveled together and would pass a big lake on our way, you could see the sailboats out there, and this song would often come on the radio. My family/I spend 10 days at the beach every Sept. My 2nd son Philip has loved this song since his toddlerhood. All 32 of us sit at the beach and listen to the Bridge station and they play this song on repeat; it takes me back to both my boys being young, me too. He was one of my favorites in 1981 when I was 17. His best song. His voice is soothing ...

You should also check out his song called "Think of Laura". It is written (wrote this song in 1982) for someone he knew that was struck by a stray bullet during a gang shootout in Columbus, Ohio. Unfortunately, she died from her injuries. RIP Laura. He has such a beautiful voice.

I didn't remember this until I heard the introduction then it hit me and I grinned like crazy. I remember listening to this rocking my little one to sleep when she was poorly and my Mum listening intently as she had never heard it before. Christopher Cross got me through the mid to late 70’s. Many night with the headphones on listening to his album over and over.

You know, I never liked this song much back in the day, maybe because it played so often on the radio, you couldn't escape it, and I got fed up with it. But listening to it again with you was a true rediscovery. I definitely learned to appreciate it now.

There was a time that I knew Chris. A long time ago now, but this man is really down to earth. This song was already out. He was a simple, humble man. Easy to be friends with.
