Thanks for the video. For the odd condition of the front passenger seat having a top tether - I'm guessing that they use the same seat for cargo vans in which case this would be the only passenger seat, so if you only have a parent and child in the van, the tether would be needed. (I have 2018 148" LR 15 passenger - love it!, get the ecoboost!)

This was great! Thanks for the complete demo of how to clear out the van. I am relieved that the seats are basically easy to remove (by two strong, patient people). It is incredibly helpful that you showed the exact structures and mechanisms, and gave us the torque head wrench sizes you used. Thankfully, I would only have to remove 6 seats from the 8 passenger MR FTC Wagon. I wouldn't want to keep the removed seats. Maybe a Ford dealer would uninstall and keep them. If not, I know how to get 'em out, thanks to you.

Thanks for this video. It was very helpful. The child seat on the front passenger seat is not without purpose. Not sure if someone else addressed this in the comments. You can turn off the front passenger airbag with a switch, or, in some cars these days, it automatically turns off airbag if the weight sensor does not pass a threshhold. The purpose for having a child seat anchor in front passenger seat is because in the event you take out all the seats, like you just demonstrated, but still need to have a toddler go along for a ride, the front passenger seat is it. Not ideal place for small children, but almost all passenger cars these days allow for the front passenger to take a toddler seat without the airbag being an issue.

The top tether on the passenger side front seat is for rear facing car seats. A rear facing car seat can be tethered down to the seat in front of it. And since the seat close to the door does not have a wall next to it it’s highly recommended that you would tether it in

Great video! I need to transport 15 of the 2023 transit seats, in a vehicle that is significantly smaller than the Transit that they came out of. So I know I'm going to have to Tetris them in order to get them to fit. Is it possible to fold the seats down after they're removed? Typically with an SUV or Van, you'd be able to fold down the back of the seat onto itself to allow for extra cargo/carrying space. I don't have the seats with me (this is a job I will be doing for someone else who owns the seats but needs them shipped), so I'm not able to check for myself. Unfortunately I never had a chance to look at other configurations but looking at the brochure, it looks like the 12 seat would have the same rear seating configuration as the 15 seat. I believe that the 10 seat is only for the short (130") WB whereas the 12 seat is for the long (148") WB. Personally, I really like the 148", especially for camping with a family. You might want to swing by a dealer to look at them. There are tons of Transits in the Seattle area. Thanks for watching!

@ChristopherLum
@ChristopherLum 4 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure why Ford decided to place the car seat anchors where they did. There are some top tether anchors for car seats on the driver side window seats and the side curtain airbags run the entire length of both sides of the vehicle so I don't think this is the reason for the placement. Thanks for watching!

Hi there, your tutorials are so helpful. Question for you? We have a 2016 Ford transit van that we are converting. We took out the seats and are moving on. What order would you recommend to do first, second, and third? Headliners, walls, or floor? Any wisdom to share we would love. Melissa and Kate
@ChristopherLum
@ChristopherLum 3 жыл бұрын
I actually didn't do anything special with the walls or floor. I would actually recommend not adding any insulation or messing with the floor, I've never had a situation where I found I needed it. I first got the sink and beds in first and then build everything around that. I'd recommend getting in a bare amount of items in first and then do a camping trip or two. I learned a lot but just trial and error. Maybe I'll catch you at a future video and please let me know how your van is going. Good luck with your build!
