Claudio Castagnoli (@claudiocsro) is a professional wrestling signed to AEW and Ring of Honor and previously worked for WWE under the name Cesaro. He joins Chris Van Vliet for a special live interview at Starrcast in Nashville. He talks about his decision to leave WWE and sign with AEW, what winning the Ring of Honor World Championship means to him, what happened to his partnership with Paul Heyman, who the strongest wrestlers in WWE are, Vince McMahon's criticism of him lacking charisma and the "it factor", his love of coffee, his match with CM Punk that was supposed to happen the night that CM Punk walked out of WWE, winning the Tag Team Championships with Tyson Kidd and also Sheamus, his current workout routine and much more!

I remember not being a fan of the best of seven series, but by the end I was loving it. Like he said, the work was amazing, and then was a huge fan of The Bar. I’d like to see him return to WWE under HHH

Yeah hed probably have a decent run under hhh. WWE needs some fresh main eventers and a new champion my opinion. Roman feels played out. We get it they want him to break all modern records. Truth is it won't push Roman any further. Idk how long his contract is though or his age. I don't think tony wants to release guys anyway. A few of hhh guys asked for release they said.

I wasn't even actively watching at the time but I heard "Best of 7" and I went out of my way to watch every one of those matches. It's one of the best protected concepts in wrestling.

The UFO is such a great move. It doesn't just require strength but a level of dexterity, agility & synchronicity. Momentum really does most of the job, but it's such a spectacular move that it deserves to be used so sparingly

About time Claudio wins the big one. So far all the former WWE stars that were AEW champions were WWE Champions at one point too. I would like to see guys like Claudio and Keith Lee in the spotlight.

A chat years in the making, CVV. Glad it finally happened. Claudia's body of work is truly incredible. He says he forgets so many good matches he did, but that's what happens when you put on consistantly good matches every week. He's one of the most impressive performers in the business, and he's capable of working with anyone, and yes, I'd like to see the *Swiss Superman* in an iron man match.

for me, claudio and seth are the two ring of honor guys who retained what they had as performers from roh and grew creatively while at wwe. and their wrestlemania match was excellent.

I think Cesaro was one of the most underrated star in WWE but Mr McMahon never utilised him properly which leads to his departure from the company hopefully in future he'll return to wwe as now things have changed in WWE as WWE is run by Triple h now.

I love Claudio so much man he was always so underused in wwe now that he’s roh champ he’s able to have banger after banger Side note: I would love if one of the finishes for his title matches were if after a long match he just clobbers someone with an uppercut and get the pin. I think it’s over enough he could pull it off and it would be cool to have a simple move like that get over as a possible finish just because of how devastating it looks when he does it

When Claudio broke Up With Hager He was so over. They should have turned him Face. Well they actually did for a week or so. Then Put Heyman to him and turning him.heel once again Killed all the momentum and Claudio never reached that high again in WWE

WWE is not about the work, it's about the characters, the drama. It's a soap opera with a bit of wrestling. A guy like Castagnoli can never hit the upper echelon in an organization like that. AEW/ ROH flip that formula to where the matches are the main attraction with a little bit of story. They let the work speak louder.

There's definitely many strongman stronger than Mark Henry. Big Z is the GOAT, Brian Shaw a close 2nd, etc. That being said, pound for pound is such a dumb term to use as strength isn't obviously linear and smaller people are gonna be more proportionally stronger than heavier men. Bones can only do so much for your strength
