When I was young I tried to get a jazz guitar teacher to show me this kind of thing to help make my solos more interesting but he either didn't know how or just refused and wanted me to learn tons of theory that wasn't computing since I'm self taught from records by ear. I can get mileage from simple concepts like this. Thanks and wish I could have found you decades ago!

Great lesson. Have you considered a series of lessons like this for minor, diminished, altered arpeggios, etc. It would make a valuable program to help students. In addition three more ways to do major arpeggios.

I think this is the clearest, most no-nonsense arpeggio-to-phrase lesson I've come across.

Very good lesson. Many lessons get crammed full of too many aspects. This explains each new idea, so that they can be added to a player's "toolbelt". I've learned some great "licks" without the explanation of why it works, but this makes it applicable. You also have a great voice.

Greetings from Zambia? Some people are naturally born to make life easier. And because of this vid, I will start again to learn Jazz. Had stopped because my Danish friend, and coincidentally my boss at work, used to say negative things about Jazz. That it is for people who like to show off and boast. After a few hiccups of trying and lack of progress. I had stopped. But have just realised that I had stopped due to a combination of bad teaching from great Jazz players but who are bad teachers + negative vibes from my boss/friend. Have watched this video 9 times and practiced every part of it like 5 times or more and I think I am on track. Not quite like you, Maestro Chris, but enough for me and my boss to recognise the lines (close to yours) from what I recorded myself earlier (Nearly there). This was very helpful. I've seen quite a few videos where they tell you to use arpeggios for soloing, but none of them showed how to do it, at least not as clearly as this video. Examples 7 through 11 really sounded like bebop lines. I am going to try this approach. Again, thanks for posting this.
