I'm back with Part 3 of my series on my naturopathic missteps. Today I'm sharing my experiences with going gluten-free for 13 months at the direction of my registered dietician. However, even after testing negative for celiac disease, my registered dietician suggested additional tests + a gluten-free diet, and, against the recommendations of my doctors, insisted that I had celiac disease.
I'm happy to report that I am now consuming gluten again (in moderate amounts, as I had before!) without any fear of a slice of bread or a piece of pizza. But this experience was also unhealthy because it made me sort foods into "good" and "bad" based on fear instead of facts.
As a reminder, I am not a medical professional or registered dietician. These are my personal experiences and you should talk to a medical professional to get the support you need.
