You look so much better. I pray for you every night. My daughter has had at least 2 to 3 episodes each year for the past 10 years of needing epi pen and steroids. She is an outside kinda girl and at 29 with two daughters she is still a tom boy. So spiders love her but she is highly allergic to them. She has actually collapsed before. Very scary thing to go through. Hugs to you and your sweet mom.

God bless you Jaquie and your family. I have been in anaphylaxis 3 times and the description you gave is right on track with what I went through each time! I'm praying you get to go home. Well let me say, I'm praying that you are at home today! Don't worry about vloging during the next few days. You know that your faithful followers know going home from the hospital takes time to get back in the swing of things! LOVE and PRAYERS from Gainesville Florida.

Anafylaxis sounds a lot like a panic attack but with an actual reason. I have panic attacks now and then and it’s certainly a horrible and the scariest feeling I have ever experienced.

Friday Studios I have been in anafylaxis 4 times in my life and my husband has panic attacks and that is just as scary it looks so horrible. Atleast with anafylaxis you will quickly be unable to breath and you slip away fast (you know you will die) but with a panic disorder you live through it with an active mind

Jaquie I am sorry you are in hospital but then again I am glad you're there so you can be helped with the reactions. My God, I don't know how you can deal with an anaphylaxis attack! It sounds absolutely terrifying! Not being able to get air in your lungs has to be the worst feeling. I have had a bad asthma attack and couldn't get enough air so I can kinda relate but it happens much slower and knowing that your inhaler will fix that makes it totally manageable and lessens the panic. Sweetie, here's hoping you go home tomorrow and all is well. Take care.

You did a fine job of explaining the onset and feeling of an anaphylactic reaction in my opinion because my process/symptoms are very similar to yours. The one difference is that mine are from something I've actually ingested, and since that item is still my system for several hours, or even a day, I tend to swell in the face, etc. The swelling can take days to go down even if the reactions have stopped. It is not uncommon for the reaction to return once the meds have worn off (again, because the item is still in my system). I hope last night went well for you and that you managed ok and made it home today.

You did an amazing job describing anaphylaxis. I have food allergies, thank God not to that extent, but I have some breathing issues so I have a mild idea. Stay strong girl. Bone pain and nerve pain, the worst. I have fibromyalgia, I understand pain. Glad you are improving.

I'm so glad your doctors are on top of things! Being in the hospital sucks, but it's better to wait another day to go home rather than being discharged early and having to come back. I go into anaphylaxis without much warning. Luckily, my service dog alerts me about 5 minutes before I have an attack coming on. If I get IV Benadryl within 1-2 minutes of his alert I only get hives and my throat doesn't swell shut. How does it feel? Place your hands on your face with your fingers on your temples and the palm of your hands on your cheeks. Keeping your fingers on your temples, squeeze your hands forward until your eyes, nose, and mouth are squished to the point you can only see a sliver and can't breathe out of your nose. Now, put a coffee stir straw in your mouth and only use that to breathe. Finally, imagine having hundreds of mosquito bites all over. That's what anaphylaxis feels to me. Afterwards, you are totally wiped out like you ran a 10k.

For me anaphylaxis starts with a weird feeling in my mouth. It's not itchy, it's not obviously swelling, but it feels wrong and only happens when I have been exposed to an allergen. Then it progresses to elevated heart rate and impending sense of doom, followed by nausea and vomiting, and sometimes it bothers my asthma. So far, I have been able to stop the reaction with Benadryl, but I do have Epipens just in case. I pray I never have to use them. Epinephrine can have adverse interactions with the active ingredient in Benadryl (diphenhydramine hydrochloride, know how to spell this if you ever go out of the country since Benadryl is a brand name. They don't sell it in Ireland for some reason, but they do in Germany. I had so many reactions on vacation that we had to buy more and thank God my mom knew how to spell it out for the pharmacist.) and with Albuterol sulfate, the active ingredient in rescue inhalers. Fortunately, my allergens are generally easy for me to avoid, so I haven't had a reaction in years.

One of the things I’ve noticed is that my heart rate drops then spikes to over 100 bpm as I’m going into a MCAS reaction. Also if my heart rate just spikes to 100-150 bpm when I’m having breakfast, I’m probably having a normal day. If it spikes to 150-200+ the odds are higher that I’ll have a reaction. Maybe a heart rate monitor would help give you more warning of reactions?

You have a good cautious doctor, I had to survive being looked at crazy in the hospital, they gave me similar meds to you but not IV and sent home, I kept running to the ER and finally realized they would not help me. Found an immunologist in NYC who gave me Gamma Globulin injection and kutapressin shots. Sorry for your anaphylaxisis, it is scary as all hell, and I do mean that, having gone through that so many times and sent home I was terrified like I was looking into the demons home since so few would really help me. So glad for you to have your all around support, you have no idea how I pray for that for you and yours and others like you, I struggle still but it is under control. I finally went vegetarian/paleo/mediteranean, it just depends at what stage I am at gut wise and I use lots of juicing as well to get nutrients in me, I hate to say it but I only got better when I looked to use more natural means which you could use now by adding on now that you have your tubes, but that is for you and your team to figure out. Medications control symptoms but do not solve the compromised body, but God has made wonderful other specialists that know how to use God's natural creations all around. Hoping you get better and remember be peaceful and know you are loved by God and many of us. Good meditating youtube I use is Let Go and Let God, works to help you relax, get asleep and get it done sub-consciously as well. Blessings and keep moving forward.

Is it just me, or is it others too?...but those IV pumps!!! Pesky and annoying, but vital contraptions!!! (the annoyance it’s on a different level when you have to deal with them often/for an extended period). Yours sounded like a cricket in this vid...I’ve had ones that have sounded like just about any animal you can imagine!!! I reckon each sounds slightly different, even though they maybe the same make/model/brand-maybe it’s according to how old they are-they drive me nuts when I’m in hospital!!

I’m scared out of my mind because when I had my reaction to Naproxen I felt the same as you and was so scared for my life. I was not able to communicate with my husband to tell him to call 911 and he was not aware of what was happening. Long story short I passed out and was able to get to the ER for help. Benedryl is an antihistamine. Mast cells contain histamine and when burst the histamine enters into the blood stream. So that's why benedryl works. It's acting on the body's exposure and reaction to the histamine.
