I caught up with my very good friend Gerard recently. We were recalling some of our old car stories and mentioned that we both had Chrysler by Chryslers at one stage. Both 360 V8s. So, whether you are a Mopar fan or not, join us for this 360 powered trip down memory lane. What do you think of the Chrysler by Chrysler? Please 👍Like, Comment, Share and Subscribe. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for the story, my first ever car was a maroon CJ Chrysler by Chrysler (i think 1975) with white vinyl roof, aircond, brocaid cream interior, elec windows and elect drivers seat, 360 V8. I bought it from my brother in law's car yard in 1983 for $1800 when I was 17 years old. I added a 600 vac sec carby to replace the factory two barrel, dual exhaust and chrome 12 slot rims. (I was able to fit 265s on the front when most car could only get 245s on the front, the wheel arches were quite big) The steering was loose and horrible and front end all over the place but i loved the car. Unfortunately i was involved in a crash a year or so later (not my fault) and i ended up wrecking what was left of the csr. Thanks for the memories.

In 1987 bought a Chrysler by Chrysler 360 from the wreckers next door from work. Green with beige vinyl roof, light beige interior, buckets, T bar Auto. The car was in immaculate nick. Wore through the front discs in no time. Wreckers hung 'em up in their workshop. Car cost $280.00.

Chrysler by Chrysler, stupid bloody name but a great car. In the 80's I bought a VK Regal that was optioned right up and had the 360. The torque and acceleration of that car is still vivid in my mind. Stupidly I trade it on a ZH Fairlane with a 302, it was a slug compared to the Valiant and I missed the power of the 360 and smooth Torqueflite. Nice story and Gerard's car looks very nice. One question though, the transition from a big powerful Chrysler to a Peugeot must have been a rough one😆

I used to own a 74 Valiant Charger 770 with a 265 Hemi. Saddest day of my life was selling it for something more reliable to commute with.

Hi fella's thanks for the video recalling your experiences with Chrysler by Chryslers and to all the comments as well I always enjoy hearing people's stories about cars from the past. My experience with Chrysler by Chrysler was that back in the early 90's my cousin had one as well as a VF VIP as paddock bashers on his property, even then I wasn't all that thrilled to see what were once top of the line luxury cars being treated in such a manner (and would be regarded as an outright sacrilege today) but at that time Chrysler Australia were long gone & Mitsubishi were in and anything to do with a Chrysler / Valiant were deemed by the masses as "uncool" were unloved and not considered of any value, especially well used 20+ year old examples which both of these were. While the Chrysler by Chrysler was a junky rust bucket I do recall the VIP as being fairly sound and could have been put back on the road with a mechanical overhaul and some minor rust repairs but alas the time and expense to do so was deemed more than the car was worth at the time so that never happened, would be a different story today.

This car was really tough. There was some sort of office error and many of them were fitted with 340's. They were mostly found in Adelaide and Perth. Never been able to prove it apart from my father who worked at Tonsley Park who told me the story.

G'day Mark. Another awesome video. Beautiful looking car. I've heard of the Chrysler by Chrysler. Not being from Australia, I've never seen one in person. 🙂

You are right about the 360 engine guzzling petrol, they were ferocious. 16 mpg on a good day, around town it dropped to about 7 mpg. I had a white Chrysler just like that one. They are nice big cars.

Hi Mark & Gerrard. That tape player is ULTRA expensive Mitsubishi Electric Stereo/Tape player. My dad's black '71 Chrysler by Chrysler 2 door coupe was crashed into outside home in Roseville, by a drunk woman in a bright blue Datsun 180B triple SSS Bluebird wrecking both the cars. Clearly a wreck, I grabbed the "flash" stereo out of the Chrysler & fitted it to my FC Holden, then in 1979 I fitted it to my long wheelbase 1974 series1 Jag XJ6.
