Gateway Classic Cars of Philadelphia is presenting a 1978 New Yorker Salon for sale. This 1978 New Yorker is still wearing its original paint and sporting its original interior as well. Check out the pillow top upholstery covered in beautiful 70, s color Red. The seats in this car are more like furniture than a car seat. The 1978 New Yorker was available in 2-door and 4-door hardtop body styles. Both were the last U.S.-built true pillarless hardtop models along with featuring frameless door glass and fully opening windows. This was also the final year a 2-door New Yorker was offered. Appearance changes were limited to a new segmented grill design, dual accent tape strips on the lower body sides, new rear deck stripes, and bright accents on the taillamps. The 400 cu in (6.6 L) V8 engine was now the standard engine. The last year of the C-body New Yorker Broughams saw engineering changes that included a revised windshield wiper linkage bushing, redesigned front and rear plastic fender extensions for the bumpers, and thinner glass. I ordered a 1978 New Yorker just like this one. Got every option except moon roof. loved this car. Same color, same interior.

I had a 78 New Yorker with a 440 V8 I called it the truck eater because trucks were terrified of this car yes it's a barge you have to qualify for your own ZIP code but I loved it!!

I noticed that cornering light worked without the park lights or headlights being turned on when the driver was turning and I noticed the digital radio. I think this is wonderful for a vehicle made back in 1978.

A masterpiece. This color combo & sidewalls were very popular in mid to late '70s. Even though officially a 6pass car, you were able to squeeze a couple more. Nothing rides like it. Beautiful the 440cid would have made it complete. When I was younger all the ppl I knew that drove Chrysler with automatic transmission you would hear the transmission winding up sound. The unique sound from the engine starter. Ahhhhhh, when cars were TRUE CARS.

The Salon must have been a rare option on this car. Remember seeing a 63 and 64 New Yorker Salon and also the New Yorker Salon of the early 90s

If it had a 440 CID V8 and 4 wheel disc brakes, it would be an Imperial for '78. In addition to above, I would like mine with velour floating cushion seats, a sunroof, Auto-Temp, and the road wheels please. What's that? $12,000 new? Worth the price

If you look closely when the guy drives it past the camera, you can see the Phenix hood ornament used on the Imperial.

A beautiful super slick 1978 Chrysler New Yorker, looks totally original, hence the minor stone chips and slight imperfections to the paint etc. I would fully restore this New Yorker to a concourse condition, but in order to do this, the asking price would have to be very low, A full restoration Hear in the United Kingdom would cost in excess of £25,000 that’s $30,417 at todays costs.

For the most part, it was Imperial LeBaron. Chrysler dropped Imperial after the 1975 model year, removed some of the high end equipment, but retained the body stye. It was a smart move, because the New Yorker with all the high-end equipment was an Imperial at a lower cost, so sales increased.
