Roy Chubby Brown - one of the best comedians. I heard a radio interview with him not that long ago. Genuinely nice guy.
@Kal_UpTheBoro16 күн бұрын
Chubby is from my home town, he is an absolute gentleman off stage and he is all an act that is all… the fact that people are cancelling him up and down the country is just embarrassing really. People unable to recognise an act from reality, unable to recognise freedom of artistic expression and taken offence on everyone else’s behalf wanting him cancelled for everyone, they are the problem not chubby.
@themoderntemplar156711 күн бұрын
@Kal_UpTheBoro It's a liberty what the PC crowd are doing to these old comic legends. I didn't notice anybody in the audience walk out, not one. The fact is that these woke, offended by everything & everyone types are not the down to earth, don't take everything too serious, ordinary working class people who just want a night out and a laugh. Chubby is a National treasure and long may he refuse to change.👍

@@themoderntemplar1567 As I posted above, I'm as left wing, PC as they come but I went to a Chubby gig. My problem was when he went on a rant about blacks, gays, asylum seekers, no punchline, just mean dog-whistle nonsense - he got a standing ovation but just got standard laughs for his actually excellent comedy material. It felt like his crowd there were more happy about his staged bigotry than the fact that he's actually funny. Thing is, as you say Chubby is a nice guy in real life. My mate who invited me to the gig is a huge Chubby fan, to the point that Chubby & his wife treated him to dinner for his 30th birthday. Nice fella...

If I recall, Roy has donated a percentage of the proceeded from every gig he’s ever done to charity, something those who wish to cancel him forget. Comedy shows have always had warnings like “if easily offended do not attend”, but now we have these little dictators going around telling people what they should or shouldn’t find funny.

Hadn't seen the whole show before either - loved it, many thanks. The trainers joke just relates to the difference between horse owners as 'trainers' and sports / running shoes - also known as 'trainers'. So the bouncers are not letting him in because he's not suitably attired for the nightclub.

We took the video back and everything looked fine with it. Playing it back, however, revealed they had watched Chubby Brown. Someone must have purposely put the Jesus of Nazareth label on the cassette (which WE didn't stock) just for that very purpose.
