Everytime my family go to my mother's hometown at Jengka and Jerantut, Pahang, my grandparents give me 1big box of tempoyak. Sometimes I also got patin... Although I'm from johor I really love tempoyak. I can eat tempoyak directly without adding anything. Imagine, eating tempoyak with nasi goreng 😂😂 my mother always complain because tempoyak in my fridge run out faster . tempoyak is awesome. You can make patin tempoyak, sambal tempoyak and many more😋

Durian becomes sweeter when fermented and thats when you get Tempoyak. I don’t eat both durian and tempoyak. I do understand how amazing it tastes, as I love other fermented food - belacan is my kryptonite. I even dip sour mango in belacan, I know it sounds weird haha. Glad you enjoyed the food.

They originated from the state of Pahang where this dish is very famous for. But not to worry. They have opened a restaurant in KL which is located at Danau Kota, Gombak. You can try and sample their patin tempoyak either in soupy version or even thick condensed version, no matter which version you choose, it is worth the try. Ikan Patin is fresh water fish.Mainly rare along Sg Pahang. However need to be careful and dont be shy to ask 1st.Some Patin can reach up to RM200-RM300 per kg(raw one) My late Auntie used to have Patin Cage along Sg Pahang about 10 years back. Patin taste nicer if its cage in flowing water.Even nicer if its wild patin.But the wild one is not pocket friendly. If u want to have authentic patin tempoyak taste.Please visit Temerloh Pahang.The origin place of Patin Tempoyak. Btw, as usual thanks for such an awesome content..
