The way I see it, the Lord spared chuck from seeing it all pan out. I've seen it happen a few times in my lifetime. Rob Skiba is another example of someone taken ahead of his time. It's a blessing that God spares us the turmoil we see coming through decernment.

Imagine my shock when the preacher told me he'd never read that verse before...the look of an unsettled but definite peace that seemed to wash over his face...I can't explain that look but it's been 5 years and I remember it like it was this morning. Because they are frightened of the direction that man is moving towards and should be frightened but lack the balls to stand and be counted, like the prophet Daniel. Just as a Green Peace activist told me many years ago. People spout off indignation about the way big business damages the natural world but have not balls to do anything about it, as they are frightened of having to take a stand and this is the case with those who do not like to be challenged by the word of God and take the big step into the light of salvation. I am never worried about the Lords of the earth and adamant atheists because they are already damned, unless they change and so it will b e them who will be the losers.

I saw a video where he said that peanut butter disproves evolution. I can explain why this is an ignorant statement. It assumes that any conditions, or at least a wide variety of conditions, which includes a jar of peanut butter, given time and energy will create new life. Nobody, not creationists, not evolutionary scientists think this assumption is true. It's called a straw man argument because it attacks a position that the opponents don't even hold. First of all we have no idea how the first life could have come about. We can speculate on conditions but until we can recreate it in the lab it is only speculation. We can do experiments to form biological molecules from non biological molecules that were probably present on earth and that we see in other stars with conditions that could have been on early earth, but this still isn't life, just possible ingredients for life. Again, the origin of life is not known, but we can still say that life evolved on earth without knowing this. The first life could have arose naturally or maybe there was a god that seeded the first life. However the only way someone would make an argument that evolution is false because we don't find new life in peanut butter is if they are ignorant about what evolution is and what scientists that accept evolution actually think. It's like saying that the idea that water can freeze is disproved because the water in my glass doesn't ever freeze even though sometimes it gets cold enough in my house for me to see my breath. It ignores the fact that specific conditions are necessary for water to freeze, pressure, temperature, ect. Imagine you lived in a world where you couldn't or didn't know how to recreate the conditions to freeze water. Does this mean it doesn't freeze? It's an idiotic and ignorant statement.

You see you can't have it both ways... You get to be vague on how life begins and call it science or you don't. Mr. Missler's point here...and you OBVIOUSLY missed it...is that it's a fallicy to think that the defined version of how life began as in the books taught in schools is fact, something you clearly are defending...and proving his point PRECISELY. You get hung up on the object lesson because you didn't pay attention to the lesson...The object lesson was indeed an attempt to point out how "idiotic and ignorant" the textbooks are....but go ahead and keep your view if you like.

I did some looking and found a video, not from the original 2 minute clip I saw, but from a video titled "Chuck Missler Genesis Session 04 Ch 1 9 13) Day Three." No quotes from textbooks, he just says that in your children's textbooks it says matter + energy = life. Now I cant speak for all textbooks but I remember my highschool biology book was not this simplistic and gave an explanation similar to the one I had in my last post, including the fact that theories for abiogensis(life originating from nonlife) were very speculative. Maybe some textbooks do just say that, matter + energy = life, with no mention of the uncertainty involved in this theory. The conclusion to draw from this is not that under any conditions matter + energy = life. He arbitrarily picked a peanut butter jar because he doesn't have enough sense to think about this logically. So everything I said is still valid. If a textbook did say that it is wrong, as many HS textbooks are about all kinds of science. It's easy to see examples of this by doing a simple google search of "highschool textbook errors". So I don't think I missed the point at all. Chuck did and made a complete ass of himself to everyone that understands this. And he makes all the people that listen to him, like yourself, look like idiots when you try to defend him or repeat what he says. "You get to be vague on how life begins and call it science or you don't." Uncertainty is a part of science. Some theories have more evidence than others. An easy field to see this in is medicine. Whether or not a medication or treatment works is a scientific question. Some treatments are more certain than others. Doctors give patients probabilities when they discuss treatments because human physiology is too complex for us to know with absolute certainty what will happen with a given treatment. We are getting better and our confidence in medications and treatments are improving but there still is uncertainty and some diseases are more vague than others. The origin of life is much, much, more vague than any medical treatment and scientists, at least good ones, recognize this. The theory is based on evidence of what early conditions on earth may have been like, and even that evidence is not crystal clear. There have been experiments where under certain conditions(that word certain is important, not in peanut butter) where simple organic compounds like amino acids(important for life) can arise from simpler molecules that could have been present. See all these "could have" and "might" words, this is not an established theory. The theory of evolution does not depend on this. The origin of life can be a complete mystery, which it is, but we still have lots and lots of evidence for evolution, which makes the theory that the biological diversity of life on this planet arose from descent with modification an established theory.

As a former atheist myself I can say that at least some atheists are atheist because they are bitter at God or in despair about all of the evil of the world... notice they are not indifferent but they are in some sense triggered by Bible teaching
