Showcases the change in Chuck Schuldiner's vocals from 1984 to 1998 and I decided to use the demos from 84 - 86 before the debut studio album. For those of you who don't know, their demo (Death By Metal) did feature one song from Chuck on Vocals (Power of Darkness), as Kam Lee was their lead vocalist in the early incarnation of Death (Mantas).
All credit goes to the respective owners and AlexGrindor for the original idea.
Hope you enjoy the video!

4:50 Hey! I took that picture! LOL - I wonder where did you get it from? It was taken with a crappy disposable Kodak in El Paso, April 08, 1990. I'm not seeking credit or anything like that, I just found it very cool to suddenly see my pic there. \m/

I think you do deserve the credit, it's a pretty good photo. And as for how I found it, I just searched "Chuck Schuldiner 1990" on Google.

@@SpoderBlitz - it cost me a few bruises to take it, but I'm damn glad I was one of those few weird guys taking pictures in that pre-cellphones era. Thank you for making this video, Chuck deserves way more recognition than he'll ever get, but people like you are what real music needs to live on, so... really, thanks! Cheers!

Unpopular opinion, it is the worst Death album. Not saying it’s bad, but out of all the album’s, it just felt like it lost some juice. The vocals don’t have the same power and emotion in the previous albums, although it’s maybe because Chuck hurt his vocal chords in his previous vocals. Personal favorite album is Leprosy, although Human comes close

Not that unpopular, most people's first favourite album when they get into Death is TSOP (in fact it may be Death's most popular album now, even surpassing Symbolic). It was my favourite at first because I was new to death metal and some of the other albums were too much for me to handle. I'm not sure what my favourite is anymore since it always changes but I think Human is probably their best album (if I were to look at it objectively).

Death is the only band I can think of that has evolved with each album and each album is a masterpiece. My favorite album go back and forth between "Human" and "Symbolic". Favorite voice is "Human". Least is "Sound of Perseverance". Was his high raspy voice because he couldn't do the lows any more or was it by choice? The intensity is still there. I like like his lower range better.

I Think he transitioned to the high screams, because he was getting bored of the low Death growl. At least thats what i read in the german Wikipedia article on the sound of perseversance

@@user-mj3zf7iu4p the record is almost 24 years old and it still holds up, and stands out especially amongst most of what was coming out of death metal at the time. I think those vocals play a huge part in that.

Sometimes I forget Chuck was also singer because his guitar and we writing skills were so good. Riffs or Symbolic are for me the best written ever, Crystal Mountain has like 4 sick riffs. But as a singer that's impressive how high his vocals were on TSOP.

I think his voice/vocal style peaked at Symbolic tbh. I still like his work on Sound of Perseverance but I feel Symbolic was a perfect balance of his vocals becoming slightly higher pitched but still keeping that classic death metal style to it that he originated.

I would have loved to hear TSOP with symbolic vocals. I remember being a bit turned off by TSOP vocals when I got the album and it was shocking when I got the live in LA DVD and heard high pitched Philosopher.

His voice changed throughout the years but these albums have very different mixes. Leprosy and Spiritual Healing are fairly close. Sound of Perseverance sounds like they took his Symbolic vocals and EQed out all of the voice's body.
