Because debates are supposed to be about the presentation of ideas and solutions to the American people. It's not supposed to be a Miss America contest. Trump has no grasp of policy or legislation or anything. He's a con man who, given the chance, will just talk over everyone and spew childish insults. Of what possible value to the American electorate would that be?

Think about what you are saying here. You are saying Biden needs protection from his political opponent. This only reinforces Trump's argument that Biden is weak. @@770WT All candidates that are on the Presidential ballot should be in the debate. It's a necessary for democracy. The people need to know the platforms of all candidates to make informed decisions - it's basic democracy. Having an uneducated, uninformed electorate damages democracy. If a candidate is a "waste of space" the voters need access to information (including debates) to draw their own conclusions.

A debate won't work unless there are rules and consequences. You interrupt, first offense opponent gets 30 extra seconds on that answer (and your mic is cut whenever it is not your turn). 2nd offense: They get 30 extra seconds and you lose 30 seconds on your next turn. 3rd offense: opponent gets 30 extra seconds and you get the cattle prod.

No political party or candidate should dictate the terms of a debate. This country was meant to be by and for the people. The political parties and candidates have taken over. We deserve the candidates of our choosing, the peoples choosing, to be in the debates. We need an informed electorate. People should be outraged that any candidate/party is taking control of the debate. CNN needs to insist that other candidates be present. This means we will not be receiving all the information we need. This is CENSORSHIP!
