God, it's so weird that Chugga is both simultaneously considered one of the OG let's players, and also one of the lesser known LPers. Chugga isn't just a veteran, he's pretty much also one of the few well known youtubers who started out from the beginning that's still with us. That's mindboggling. 🤯

Its prolly due to the fact that the newer generation of viewers that flock in gravitate to numerous other people and usually go gor the new big mainstream buzz and not a bit older and usually Nintendo only IPs. But most of us who found youtube a few years back prolly know him. For example,myself. Ive been watching since I was in Elementary School and he along with a few others come to my mind when I think of the youtubers I watched in the good old days

@@Alyks_the_Emerald_Sage They are a top 10 channel that rely on pumping out low tier content just to maximise views. I mean just go to their channel now and scroll through the videos... The amount of top 10's that are an obvious stretch. To be honest it's not surprising with how many videos they get out in a day. There's isn't even much point to the videos; they lack character, the top 10 isn't even really a top 10 it's just 10 they thought of when making the video.

I wouldnt say Chugga is underrated though. Definitely not the #1 MOST underrated. Does he deserve more views and subs? Absolutely. But he already has plenty where as other channels might be more deserving of a boost of some kind. I put thought into a watchmojo list. Kill me.

I feel like chuggaconroy is one of those rare instances where the KZfaqr is untouchable by time. He and a couple other KZfaqrs pioneered Let’s plays, but he’s the one that truly makes any games he plays seems enjoyable and educational. He reminds me of those old classmates at school where at first he seems like a huge dork and geek, but everyone knows him and doesn’t mind hanging out with him when he’s around.

@@daevious_ He never was even close. Before PewDiePie existed, Smosh, Nigahiga, Fred and RayWilliamJohnson were the most subscribed. He was the most subscribed Let's Play channel around 2010-2011, but he wasn't the most subscribed in general.

Yeah, sadly Tim is the least known member of the group in the collective LP consciousness. Emile pioneered the LP market on KZfaq, Jon was one of the original LPers from SomethingAwful, but Tim is just an old guy having fun. I love all three of them, but Tim has the least amount of "clout" to his name, despite the quality of his videos. :(

I agree with both of you, I just meant that not as many people on the outside looking in have knowledge of Tim's content, that I've seen. I adore Tim's videos, so don't think I'm insulting him, I'm just looking at it from a passersby POV, not as many "big" KZfaq LPers site NCS as inspiration as much as they do Chugga and ProtonJon. Not saying he hasn't inspired many, he has and he's brilliant, people just don't site him as often, so random people aren't as familiar.

@Tom The Fish Well, clearly your worldview isn't entirely accurate, because there are plenty of female KZfaqrs and streamers with small-to-decent followings filled with decent people, guys included. TamashiiHiroka, Masae, Lucahjin, JazzyGuns, etc. There's no need to be an asshole... It's true that a lot of simps exist online, but there are plenty of normal guys out there and plenty of women that can make content with their face in it without a legion of simps subscribed to them.

If we met in person, would you just call everyone you ran into a moron instead of talking things out normally? There’s a difference between speaking your mind and being an asshole. Tamashii’s fanbase is more SJW than filled with simps, and she’s aware of this, because she says she’s one herself. I’ve been watching her since I was a literal preteen in the late-2000s. Why does it matter if they’re attractive or unattractive? If they’re a good person that makes good content, and they’re entertaining, then that’s all that really matters. If you’re looking for attractiveness in women you want to watch and go out of your way to talk about their looks like that, you come off as shallow.

The amount of dedication, research, and enthusiasm that Emile brings to his channel is mind-blowing. I remember watching his AC: New Leaf series. Even then, Emile consistently showed that he knew his stuff, explaining the ins and outs of the game to help you make your through and have the best experience. Heck, his Pokemon let's plays are filled to the brim with (what seems like meaningless) statistics, numbers, descriptions, and definitions that would break the brain of the casual player. It's incredible how much research and background knowledge he puts into each individual series to make them helpful, interesting, entertaining, and hilarious.

...my favorite part of any chuggaaconroy let's play is in his pokemon emerald series Where he gets one little fact wrong by accident (I think that's how it goes down) Then when he's called out by like 50 people in the comments the next video he achknowledges it and proceeds to nerd out and explain it in detail bon how it works in lightning round of his usually way I think it was people saying cascoon and silcoon we're based on gender or time of day And then he wanted that it was just personality value and he explained it right down to the digit He's an absolute madman who can't spell beautifly right

I actually knew a few people who got into pro/competitive pokemon because of Chuggaaconroy. When I asked them how they said because the way it was presented was way better than most forums or websites at the time. It was easy to digest and it made you wanna learn more about it.

I might be the only one who knows this. So, people also need to know. Shadman, (or Shadbase) was streaming his art on twitch one day, and he was playing music on KZfaq. And the song ended and played another one, in his recommends, it had one of Chugga’s Majorca’s mask video. So I asked “oh Shad you watch him too?” And he said “oh no, I just needed to get some of the masks and his video is the only one that didn’t bullshit around”

I remember the first time watching anything involving Chugga. It was the New Super Mario Bros. Wii playthrough by TheRunawayGuys. I don't think I watched it right as it was releasing cause I remember binging it over a couple days or so, but I don't think it was long after it was finished. And then I watched a few of his LP's and the Mario Party playthroughs on TRG. Then I got into watching Stephenvlogs in 2011, and then Chugga started popping up in Stephen's videos and I realized that this was all a bigger picture. It was more than just a few people making videos about games and stuff, but this is a huge community. Even though Chugga is far from my most watched KZfaq channel, and sadly isn't my favorite, he's definitely one of my most respected and looked up to.

Ah, now there's a channel that truly deserves more fame than it currently has. I discovered him through his Secret of Mana lp about 6 or 7 years ago. Once I found out about his Mega Man perfect runs, though, I was absolutely hooked.

Another KZfaqr who discusses Emile quite often is BigKlingy, you’ll find plenty of mentions of him offhandedly in the 10 year history video he did (particularly about how he had to put some Pokémon projects on the back burner due to timing). I know Klingy isn’t huge (he should be, he’s amazing), but it still counts for the sake of the content correct?

It puts into perspective how long Chugga has been doing this. I first found him when he was releasing Mother 3 videos, and he was only a few years older than me. And he's just kept on chugging. Chuggaaconroy pulls pretty consistent view counts from his subs, it genuinely seems like most of his subs still watch at least the first video of each new LP. That's mighty impressive for such an old channel still using the LP format. He's not giant but seems to make enough to keep doing this until he dies. I've been watching since 2008, I'm still here in 2023.

I like to think that I might never have continued watching LP's if it weren't for TRG. Before they rolled around, I was watching an Aussie LP group by the name CounterOperativeComm, who unfortunately are no longer active. It's a shame too because they left their Pokemon Rumble LP unfinished.

I wonder how Chugga feels-- if he even knows-- just how well-known he actually is amongst such big names? An OG in the let's-players world, an underrated icon, and someone who's so dedicated to the LP craft that he's one of the few I've seen that hasn't shifted his focus to Twitch and still consistently does his KZfaq LPs in the same way he has for so many years? Hearing so many other names even just passively mention him gives me a weird sense of... nostalgia? pride? that someone who's been doing the same thing so consistently and so *happily* for so long has been even remotely recognized by big names like MattPat. To say it's mind-blowing that his influence has spread so far is an understatement, especially when I started watching him way back in like... Maybe his Majora's Mask days? so im not exactly one of the "OG" watchers, nor have i watched everything, but i have a sort of nostalgia towards him still, and i dunno im just kind of rambling at this point. its just... cool, yknow?
