Skull Kid was friends with the giants. But when the giants had to leave, Skull Kid was sad that his friends we leaving. He then got mad and decided to take his anger out on Termina, which he believed was the reason why his friends had to leave; the giants were needed to protect Termina, so do do so, they had to split up. But Termina is not so fond of Skull Kid, and it clearly seen that everywhere Link goes they have some hate towards the little trickster. So they called upon the giants, and as punishment, they send/outcast Skull Kid "into the heavens". The "heavens" is actually Hyrule, being that Hyrule is right on top of Termina. So now Skull Kid is just wandering the kingdom of Hyrule in search for something that makes sense or a way back to Termina, and know he eventually finds it. But to keep the gods of Termina from knowing, he keeps it on the hush hush level. Wandering in the woods with his friends Tatl and Tael (who are with him during his Hyrule journey), they stumble across a someone passed out or sleeping----the happy masks salesman. He sees the mask and can feel its power, the power to destory the giants once and for all. He puts it on and BOOM!----new Legend of Zelda game!

In the grandmother's defense, the heart pieces do look like candy, like the outer casing is blue raspberry, and the center is cherry. Nintendo companies! MAKE CANDIES LIKE THIS!!!!

I just had a thought: I really wish putting on the Mask of Scents in the same room as Madame Aroma would do something funny.

Oh! I just realized! At the end of the argument when the Mayor says "Let's not bring my wife into this.", that's a hint that you need to use the Couple's Mask!

What if the "four worlds" mentioned by the grandmother aren't Woodfall, Snowhead, Great Bay and Ikana? What if the four worlds are something else? We know of Hyrule and Termina. Those are two. We also know of Skyloft (however Skyloft and Hyrule didn't exist at the same time), Lorule (although this is clearly shown to be in another dimension/universe), and New Hyrule (although this was discovered after the Great Flood and after the events of Phantom Hourglass). Could any of those be one of the "four worlds" according to this theory? I think that New Hyrule might be the best bet. There were the Spirits of Good that fought the Demon King Malladus. That could count for the third world. There's also the new Zelda game announced by Nintendo at E3 2015, Triforce Heroes. As far as I could see, it hasn't been confirmed that it takes place in Hyrule, however the fact that it's called "Triforce Heroes" might mean that it is set in Hyrule. What do you guys think?

Well it is possible that pieces of heart are actually candies that raise your strength, and only for a limited time that takes some time to wear off, and is the reason that you loose all of your heart containers from OOT going to MM.

Guys I have a theory: a lot of Zelda is inspired by the Japanese spiritual teachings of Shinto, and so much like the golden goddesses are part of the origin story of the Hyrule universe, the four giants are symbols used to represent the creation of Termina. And that would explain why the Terminians don't like worshippers of the goddesses because they have a different perspective on the creation of their own world. But also, my theory is that Majora is the imp from the story, who was present at the beginning of creation before the giants (gods), created the worlds and went to sleep, leaving humans to be able to experience mortal life which involves pain and struggle as seen in the game. Majora stays in clock town, or on earth, and so my theory is that Majora is like a fallen angel type figure, a lucifer of sorts who feels abandoned by the gods and turns his pain outwards towards other people spreading pain and misfortune. And Skull kid had similar emotions to that leaving him vulnerable to Majora's influence. When you free the last giant, it says "forgive your friend", meaning Skull Kid, but perhaps that hints at a deeper meaning that the giants also forgive their friend (Majora) for his or her sins, and want mortals to learn that lesson also. Because pain and suffering is a reality in the mortal life, but as Link demonstrates, compassion, faith, and love have the power to ease all pain and suffering even when all seems hopeless and lost. There is very much an implication that the All Night Mask is a torture device. The biggest thing implying this is the fact that the description says it prevents you from falling asleep no matter how hard you try instead of saying that it keeps you awake.
