We both have the same faith, the same God, the same prayers, the same church, and yet I'm still here barely surviving. Count your blessings and don't take it for granted. I stopped making those trips 4 years ago and there’s 2 things that go through my mind everyday, the thought of getting high and praying for the strength to never make those trips again. someones son~~ hes 42 been drinking since he was 18, and no matter what i say he wont stop. Im a cripple thanks to his alcoholic dad. Prayers excepted as mine dont seem to be getting thru. His name is david, our Abba says where 2 or more are gathered in prayer He will hear. Can not count how many times ive found him lying in a fetal position i pray i never find him cold stone dead.

I lost my daughter to a 4wheeler accident & she was a meth addict. You’re right…the family is the addicts army. I gave my daughter full acceptance. She was still in the stage of the drug seemingly helping her cope with things. I feel God took her to save her & it hurts like hell. I’m praying for your daughter & you momma. The world is hurting... well, many are hurting... it's an added layer for us addicts as most of us already have passed trauma we're trying to work through now that we're sober. Trauma we've run from in one shape or form since it happened culminating in numbing it to the point of becoming an addict and hand in hand with that, something we no longer even recognize in the mirror. Take all of that baggage to carry and add on that almost every day there's something else happening in our world that hurts your heart so deeply... oi. It's a trying time, to say the very least. I'm thankful for channels like yours. For men like Tom and Brandon Tatum... light in a dark world.

It always gets worse before it gets better. Healing from a broken bone doesn't happen over night, it takes many painful nights and so does emotional healing. Keep digging into your bible and never forget that people at church are sinners and human too. Try not to judge God's love on a humans actions. I am praying for your healing, mind, body, and soul.

It made me tear up, too, my man. I used to drink a liter of whiskey every day or so. A fifth was "doing good"... I stopped the liquor long ago and only drank beer from then on, but still struggle. It's easy for me to crush 8, 10, 15 *strong* beers in a day (not your typical bud light). I've been building up the courage to stop for a couple weeks and plan to give it another real old fashioned shot very soon. This song and some of the comments here are exactly what I needed right now. That's awesome that you're doing so well. It's inspiring. Keep it up man.

My husband is your age and is an alcoholic. He quit drinking on Dec 23 2020. 2 weeks of DTs, I stayed with him every moment (Alcohol Detox Center would be safest) but we did it at home. It will be a battle I will continue to help him fight! He’s doing incredible right now!

I am afraid, last time I tried, I had a heart attack, kinda reassured me to keep drinking.

@WhatsHappening783402 Some pills "recreationally"? You must be young. I thought the same thing. Been paying about $500/ month for my doctor and the suboxone he prescribes me for over 15 years. If I don't take it, I won't sleep for weeks, but also can't work, can't function, and will be in the fetal position on the floor kicking and sweating for days. My "friends" I used to do pills with all got their kids taken from them, got put in jail, lost all their wealth, and 2 of them died. We were just having fun and were way too smart to get addicted. We were just taking them recreationally too. I suggest video games or maybe keeping reptiles/ amphibians as a recreation.

Tom, this past 2 years crazy . My daughter had twin baby. Boys. 3/2019 Baby James, was found to have liver disease. Through 19' and into 20' he held on . I struggled not to fall back into... I had to fall forward to God to stay Sane. Baby James the brave , graduated to heaven . I'm still torn... as a grandfather, I cry . His twin brother Hendrix the haze .. is 2 now . Don't give up guy. People care about you and love you. I'd like to encourage you to check out a different kind of 12 step program. It's called, "Celebrate Recovery". I have several friends who have found strength and acceptance there. Addiction isn't who you are. It's only where you are.

We’ve all been there, but we can’t forget that God’s glory is shown in our weakness. Philippians is a good letter for that where Paul is literally saying he can endure any suffering because of the Lord. We all need to remember that if we pray, according to Gods will, he will listen.
