I'm partial to Final Girl, but there Really is not a bad song on this record. The Bones of What You Believe and Love Is Dead are tremendous albums as well.
@Joeymurda872 жыл бұрын
The chorus for this song is probably one of the best they've recorded . Lauren's voice on top of that synth is friggin awesome

Instantly hooked!! Definitely going to stand as one of their more memorable tracks.

Came here to say about the same thing... Ian's bass line there too...
@aestroai80122 жыл бұрын
Agree 100%. They do a genuine early 80's synth pop thing here. The strength is that feather light vocal. I can't wait until they do an acoustic version.

This is like a 1987 hit that you would later hear when trying on clothes in a department store in the early ‘90s. I don’t mean this in a derogatory way at all, there’s a lot I miss being a kid and this brings me back in it’s simplistic innocence but also unexpectedly complex pop tune.
@sethshaffer6812 жыл бұрын
They would've been the biggest band in the world from 1983-1991. I feel bad for them they would've sold multi Platinum albums and been millionaires if they were born 20 years earlier than the were.
@BeingUninspired2 жыл бұрын
@@sethshaffer681 while I wish them to be as rich as they want I doubt they would still be "allowed" to make the music they want in that case. Which I hope they do now, of course.

Check out synthwave then if you havent already. The nostalgia is staggering.
@hawkstrike182 жыл бұрын
@@sethshaffer681 I wouldn't be so sure they'd produce exactly the same music back then; they were still learning or being shaped then, I guess
@jasontrewin1232 жыл бұрын
@@sethshaffer681 some measure of truth to that statement. I’m glad to have heard their band on Ds and explored all the their albums.

Being a Chvrches fan since the Mother We Share days, I heard the first few singles off Screen Violence, and was thinking this album might be a bit underwhelming. NOPE, it's a banger, probably their best yet.

🎼LYRICS: I've lost my appetite Drinking the pesticide Thinking that it's not a suicide if we act polite Jesus Christ I'm getting tired of the alibis All the excuses and reasons why build inside my mind No reply I wish that I'd known ahead of time And I wish I had been more kind I wish, I... Paralysed and spinning backwards Lullabies don't comfort me Televise the great disaster We're better off inside of the screen I'm terrified of falling faster Lullabies don't comfort me So televise the great disaster We're better off inside of the screen sometimes I'm lying on the floor What are we waiting for? I'm getting tired of trying so hard to be adored Close the door Wish I'd reached out to my mother more Wish that I hadn't kept the score I wish, I... Paralysed and spinning backwards Lullabies don't comfort me Televise the great disaster We're better off inside of the screen I'm terrified of falling faster Lullabies don't comfort me So televise the great disaster We're better off inside of the screen sometimes

@hawkstrike182 жыл бұрын
@@stevievickers913 depends on the mother... As someone who tries (and kinda fails) to enjoy his favorite video games again because of being afraid of what else is next and needing distraction, "we're better off inside of the screen" and "terrified of falling faster", plus "the lullabies (*music and anything else I used to enjoy fully - I still appreciate everything good tho) don't comfort me" to an extent, seem more relatable. But I don't disagree, and I do wish my mother wasn't toxic (deep inside; most ppl don't see it... well, humans are shallow).

Oh. My. God. This album is I think Chvrches' strongest yet. The lyrics cut right to the damn bone. I guess I relate so well to all these songs that they just pull the emotion right out of me. The band has really hit their stride; the lyrics have become complex and the music has such great flow. Yet another hit! Also, great job on Fallon with "Good Girls". It was AWESOME.
