Lol I never thought I would see a simson s51 on KZfaq. When I was 14 my parents got me one. It wasn’t in that good condition like the one on the video, but still was a good bike. Me and my brother spent a fortune to repair it and countless hours of work on it. 👊👍

I thought I was going to feel cheated. I was waiting for most of that vid to see the sparkplug overheat without being seated in aluminium, and to blow out of the clear plastic 😁 Amazed that the 15% water and cooler burning ethanol did such a brilliant job of slowing the destruction though 😃

I think it would possible to make the head out of glass, the spark plug could be held in with a nut inside. I guess it would be expensive though.

This is brilliant. Apart from the risk of getting your balls blown off if you rode it the demo is really interesting from a combustion perspective. The flame is initially yellow which is fuel rich but as it warms up it turns blue which has less fuel but more power. Great demo. I use glass spark plugs for multi carburettor tuning.

Some exotic fuels, such as alcohol, burn cooler than gasoline. Being as such they can produce more power because, while the jets need to be larger to keep up with demand for fuel, the fuel has a higher energy capacity.

On petrol it would have failed much sooner. Alcohol runs considerably cooler than petrol and also a lot more fuel is consumed which greatly contributes to the heat extraction. He would have modified the carburettor jets considerably.

85% alcohol contains too much water and therefore results in emulsion and not a proper mixture. The oil in the emulsion does not start to burn and there are heavy deposits ... or leaks? Maybe using pure alcohol solves the problem. Or E85 fuel (still 85% alcohol)?

Very nice! You could have used a smaller ignition plug, but...Further, you could mount a camera (of an cellular phone) into a standard aluminum head, the lens is protected by a piece of quartz glass. Should deliver high resolution for analysis of the combustion. And you can use a different oil (synthetic? Castor oil!). It should be possible to avoid the yellow Natrium flame.

And what stops your threaded insert from getting hot like the plug? A better solution would be to use an insert that threads in from the combustion chamber side and the insert has a shoulder making it impossible to fly out, even if the threads soften

But no vice to hold the workpiece, which is plastic(i don't care if it has a fancy name, its basically plastic). One of the very well know materials that will grab around your drill and/or make drills wonder off course. God damn im so glad I've been taught in a proper machine shop. You will rather save 5 minutes to not get a vice somewhere, but risk those lovely gloves being grabbed by that machine, or have that block grab and break your fingers. I've had a drill press grab before, when it does that drill press starts "walking" as it swinging the job around. Fui! Do we have the same thoughts? I say because since I was very young I wanted to see a transparent head to know how it works inside. I created this event in my imagination. Seeing that was really an accomplishment for me. But now the question I have is: Do we all have the same curiosities? Like how it is inside hurricanes (there are already people who have created a way to get very close) but I would like to see it in the eye of the hurricane. Theory of common thinking. I went!

Tu bardziej chodzi o NITROmetan. Nie rozpuszczalnik nitro. Ten, to by pół instalacji paliwowej rozpuścił. Powszechnym jest dodawanie nitrometanu do paliw alkoholowych. Do zwykłych zresztą też.
