With chypres, I feel it has to do with maturity. I'm 44 and I'm beginning to appreciate and enjoy chypres. They are this "I'm not trying to be agreable" kind of fragrances that match better your state of mind as you get older.

I absolutely adore Nomade, I can't get enough of it!!! I always go between classic Chloe and Nomade, even though they're not similar, but definitely have that elegant, parisian, classy style in my opinion 😍 some say it has a masculine vibe but I think it's very feminine ❤

Chypre are my fav!!!!! I’m more into the green chypre. Thanks for considering Jimmy Choo a chypre, I have that bottle and never considered it a chypre. But I can totally see modern chypre’s headed in that direction. I study perfumery for my own brand I am developing. This video was very helpful because I generally tend to lean more interested in vintage chypre’s , which I love to wear. But I want to create fragrances for both modern and classic fragrance lovers. Especially those who love chypre

I would add La Panthère, from Cartier, as the quintessential floral chypre. I do love Coco Mademoiselle, but for my taste La Panthère is even better!!

Love Chypres! Miss Oakmoss bases as I dislike Patchouli in modern Chypres. My faves were Rive Gauche, Chanel No. 19, Paloma Picasso, Diva, Deneuve, Lauren, Valentino and Gucci Iii. The eighties Chypres were the best!

Thanks for explaining this. I have two perfumes in my collection that are listed as chypre florals and I wasn't quite sure what that meant. One is Tom Ford's Rose Prick. The other one is Sisley's Izia La Nuit.

I love Dior Addict (the original dark blue parfum). I first smelt it years ago in France and I thought it was awful to begin with, but it developed in such an interesting way. I’d never smelt such an earthy or woody fragrance before and it struck me as being more masculine at first but now it’s a favourite. The lasting power is insane. I had it sprayed on a perfume card and I can still smell it (faintly) nearly 2 weeks later! I don’t know for sure if it’s Chypre- it’s described as “floriental” by Dior, I think, but it does seem to match some of the Chypre notes.

Thank you so much for the clarification! How do you feel about Donna by Valentino? To me it has definitely chypre vibes: bergamot in the top, rose and iris in the middle and leather plus patchouli in the base. This one was always confusing to me, but your video helped me to kind of categorize this perfume 💕

I have been buying a lot of gourmand lately and honestly I think is true that I prefer chypres.. I’m trying to get on the bandwagon with La Belle and Girl of Now etc.. it’s too much for me to wear daily. I love bergamot it’s my favourite note! I’m going to check out jimmy choo next!

A classic chipre was Timeless by Avon in 1974. I haven't try it but It must be popular if it's stil in the catalogue. Has anyone here tried it? Thanks for the explanation 👍 🙂

Recently I was able to sample Mugler's Les Exceptions - Chyprissime. It's available at the Mugler website (USA). I really love it (but not the price, yikes!). It has bergamont orange, patchouli, oakmoss, and "an unorthodox burst of dazzling pear. This surprising note transforms the classic chypre with a new brightness." I found it a very soft and cozy fragrance.

Exit The King from Etat Libre D’orange is the best modern chypre fragrance on the market at the moment - hands down. A true masterpiece. Chypress from Floris is an EDT, so very light but stunningly beautiful. Let’s not forget Roja Parfums - truly amazing chypre perfumes. So many choices - so little time 😂😂😂

Chypre is a loose term. My understanding has been chypre is the genre of perfume with an oakmoss base ex: Charlie, Bijan, Halston. But hey I could be wrong lol

Arancia means orange in Italian it is not an island near Cyprus i think you meant Sicilia is an island south of Italy I absolutely LOVE Chanel 19 and the old school chypre the modern fruity chypres I find have saturated the market & all smell similar i hope in 2021 there will be more interesting scents than mass market saccharin inane scents

Burberry makes fantastic chypre fragrances. When I think chypre I think serious, sometimes sterile, woody, dry.

I've only tried London few years ago and loved it so much, but my tastes have changed so much in regard to perfumes, not sure I'll like it anymore and don't think I can find a tester where I love 🤔

Soki, you have been so invaluable in my perfume journey. Ty so much for clearing this up in my mind. I like Miss Dior but I'm just not a fan of CM. I have the older version of MD. I also have Chanel Chance EDP and I'm decluttering it. It just is not for me. I declutteted Jimmy Choo too. LOL Why is Miss Dior different to me, do you think?

I love Chanel 19. Could you do a video on other oak moss perfumes (even though they are not you favorite)? I read that there was a ban on oak moss from France within the last years, so the formula of Chanel 19 has changed. I don’t like it as much. I miss the Chanel 19 of old. I have been searching for a replacement for years. Thank you for your informative content. I always enjoy your videos.

I love the original 19 but I couldn’t wear it, it just didn’t jive with my skin chemistry. My roommate rocked it though. Quintessential 70 s sophisticated scent, that and Rive Gauche. Scents today are so sweet, fruity or heavy, e.g. Tonka bean

oo difficult. Personally I prefer Miss Dior. Coco M is more rosey, Miss Dior a bit sweeter. Depends what you want..

Hi! Could you review some Zara perfumes - particularly the ‘’memories/artisans collection”. I think there are 4 perfumes in the line (‘a book liaison in Lisbon’ and ‘a mochi atelier in Tokyo’ are a couple of the names). @@marianar2948 Yes, actually I'm more interested in A Book... I've heard people say it smells like Chloé Nomade, which I've always wanted to try!

@@zara14 hello! My mom has Nomade for two years now and, because I also heard of that comparison, went on and bought A Book... for her. She loves it and finds it's a pretty exact dupe! And I agree. It's not as sharp as Nomade (the strawberry gives it a rounder top but it's not sweet as one might expect) but it retains the same airy quality. The performance is average on duration and projection, but, considering how robust the glass and the cap are, you can carry the bottle with you during the day to re apply. As my mom says, it's a unexpensive way to refresh Nomade 😁 The bottle version is a great purchase, nevermind the roller ball - besides not being as pretty and the application sucks, it's not worth the price in proportion. The only flaw with A Book... is that it doesn't smell like Lisbon or the bookstore that it references (Chiado's Bertrand) at all! 😂 Then again, that collection is all based in memories. Other than that, it's a great purchase! p. s. : Delicious Delights made a very helpful review of this collection recently 😉

Very interesting. Chypre fragrances always confuse me. Wouldn’t have known JC was a Chypre. Is Creeds Royal princess Oud a Chypre? 👍😀

Ah I remember this one. Such a shame they discontinued it and the fairie. Coco mademoiselle and juicy couture, couture couture you might find similar. Nina by Nina Ricci also has the fruity praline combination. My perfume Empress, out in November, will also have some similarities :)

Sophie, you need to do more research before misinforming your audience about what Chypre is... Chypre was the name of François Coty's perfume which was inspired by Cypress and featured the combination of oakmoss, labdanum and bergamot. It was the first of its kind in 1917 and other perfumes considered chypre are modeled after it.

I agree. This is what I've heard the birth of chypre perfumes is. Also, if I may add, there were a lot of chypres during the 70's and 80's, especially the 80's. Those big, bold perfumes that made a statement. Nowadays, that kind doesn't exist even though they call some sweet perfumes like Miss Dior, Si and Jimmy Choo chypres 🤷🏻♀️
