one of the best video regarding cicd. oka dev branch, master branch concept ekath ekka continuous deployment kiwwa nam perfect. godak welawata master branch (or production branch) merge krama tama continuous deployment wela production yanne.

Either is fine. You can start with a DevOps internship as well. But it is always better to have software engineering life cycle's experience, data structures and algorithms background, how computer memory, instructions, architecture works etc...
