Prince Cihangir gets in bed to die!
Cihangir grieves for Mustafa and gets off his feed. Suleiman struggles desperately for his son. Hürrem gets worried about Cihangir. Bayezid's anger for his mother doesn't cool off. Rüstem gets worried for his life and his fears come true. One of Mustafa's friends goes back to the capital to take his revenge. He surrounds Rüstem's palace with the revolters. Bayezid saves Mihrimah and Rüstem. As Cihangir's clamours surround the whole camp, Suleiman puts out of his misery. Hürrem and Suleiman gets tested with the grief of losing a child. As Hürrem gets devastated byy Cihangir's death, Suleiman tries to heal his soul. A bitter fight starts between Hürrem's two living sons to be able to ascend the throne.
At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

Even more innocent Mustafa knew exactly what was going on, allowed his mother to finish Mehmed off. Or at least saying nothing and being complicit. Mehmet wasn’t smarter, I would say smartest was truly Selim. He was so foxy, even hair color is like a fox 🤣🤣🤣

In real life, Cihangir was tragically born deformed and he suffered from epilepsy, but mentally he was brilliant and the most intelligent of all Suleyman and Hurrem's sons. Although, apparently, Suleyman came to trust his daughter's intelligence and opinions more than that of his sons. She was very like her mother Hurrem, so maybe that's why Suleyman trusted her the most. I'm reading about Suleyman the Magnificent and Hurrem and their children right now in a book called 'Harem - Life Behind the Veil' by Alev Lytle Croutier. It's a fascinating story. I recommend it to anyone who loves this series The Magnificent Century. I'm saving up my money to go on a trip to Istanbul. I've been wanting to go there for a while, ever since a friend of mine went to Turkey and loved it, so hopefully it will be my turn next year 🙏 Love from Amanda in Australia

I would NEVER risk my life by going to an Islamic country! Even foreign women are arrested on trumped up charges by Muslim men. You'll be damned lucky to get away alive & unharmed. After seeing this series some years agoI just wanted to to go to Istanbul to spit on Hurrem's thomb...I hate what she did to Prince Mustafa...I went and seeing how beautiful Istambul was I forgot...but I still despite Hurrem but more these horrible traditions they had (the Harem, the Sultanate, really the seeds for women against women, and brothers against brothers, a lot of suffering...)

Especially since there is zero proof or evidence that Hurrem had anything to do with the death of Mustafa. Grow up. Look at things from a logical standpoint. Also Mustafa in real life was caught corresponding with the Venetians. Mustafa was in his 40's when he died. Look up the life expectancy of males in that era. Hardly the knight in shining armor that you want him to be.

The great grandson of Suleiman who paved the way to change the fratricide law was a child with no heirs when he ascended, with a much younger brother. They needed that spare around for a while. And then following that sultan’s death it was honestly hard to keep from falling into the fratricide trap. Mustafa’s mother would have had the other sons and grandson’s executed before Mustafa got to the throne. There were too many adult sons and many more male grandsons. The public would not feel safe. If Suleiman hadn’t had Mustafa executed the other four would have all survived. Not just Selim. Maybe the youngest died due to illness. That would have been a long time to be in pain.

I'm no psychiatrist, but the pain of Mustafa's death reawakened the torture he endured as an infant. He is unable to process this pain. This is incredibly sad. He is suffering more than grief.

@Leo To be fair with Kosem, was in more hard situation than Suleiman... And everytime she do something all people critize her and horrible things happened until she clean up the mess - unlike Suleiman who see as an half-god- so it's not surprise she became mad. And even in the end she was still more understable that Suleiman. She became another person more cruel in the end- as she orders the murder of her grandson- because of all the tragedy happen to her. Suleiman had his own tragedy because of his flaws of naricism and his horrible character. It is the difference between these two.

Actually in terms of parenthood he was worse since he was directly responsible for the murder/deaths of 3/5 sons. Also Yavuz Selim ruled for 8 years only but he doubled the size of the empire during his rein while Suleiman ruled for 46 years.

My only issue with Cihangir was he favored Mustafa more than his real brothers. Mehmet has always been sweet to him but he only looked up to Mustafa. In this series, I didn't see him as devastated as when Mehmet died compared to his inconsolable reaction with Mustafa's death. I know it was tragic cause their father was responsible, but I just couldn't wrap my brains to the fact that Cihangir was more devastated with Mustafa's passing than Mehmet's.

He tried to complot against him. This deserved very well his grand-father Selim, who got the power using this way.. And Mahidevran sent a lot of money to convince the supporters. Did you think he was the lamb of sacrifice ? And her mother a saint ? If you want to speak about historical facts, so did it not only for a part, but for all. He tried, he lost. There is no proof anywhere that the letter written to the safavid dynasty was not of his own hand. And by the way, Cihangir died of the pains caused by the genetical disease he had since he was born, and of too much opium, not because the death of Mustafa he hardly knew and really didn't care about. This are historical and factual informations you can find in any good book about this period of the ottoman empire.

The conversation between Selim and Cihangir was painful to watch especially when Selim expressed his pain of not having felt Cihangir's love compared to Mustafa and Bayezid. Selim, with all his faults, i believed loved his siblings. Sadly, no one loved him back and everyone seemed to ignore him. Cihangir loved Mustafa than his other siblings and Mihrimah always favored Bayezid. Mehmed on the other hand, being the eldest of the 5 was being groomed as possible heir so in this series, it is seldom that we see him interact with his siblings. What Selim did to Bayezid was wrong on all levels but maybe that was one of the reasons why Selim had little difficulty executing Bayezid. Bayezid rarely warmed up to Selim and always saw him as a competition and treated him as an inferior because Bayezid was physically stronger. Hurrem should have raised them all with love for their siblings.

The price Hurrem paid for having so much blood on her hands. She was so power hungry she stopped at nothing and in the end she lived out her days in grief and sorrow. Changir, Mustafa and Bayezid were the true princes. 💛

This is that rare moments where even Selim seems so torn down and he’s right when saying that as long as Cihangir stays there by Suleyman’s side, he’ll never recover cause he’ll kept being reminded of traumatic incident. While Suleyman is hatable here but he’s right about his duality as king and a father. When you’re a father and you killed your own son you’ve no right to mourn. Sadly the time period they live in suffering through the loss of children was inevitable for both Suleyman and Hurrem. The least they can do is to remove the law of killing siblings or rather passing down the throne whilst they’re still alive so that there wouldn’t be rivalry between siblings. Beyazid and Selim were so pitiful here and you can see how grief always bought them together. Sadly they were entangled with bad politics and even the difference in treatment (even by their own family including Mihirmah) resulted in tragedies.

The history would have been different if Mustafa wasn’t murdered. Our Muslim history would have been totally different if he lived to rule. But Allah knows better. It’s so heart breaking that we lost so many innocent princes. My heart shattered into pieces for what happened to Mustafa. He was the biggest victim in our history, of hatred and greed. Its so heart breaking no words to express.

Embarrasssing Mustafa- always jealous of Mehmet- most smart and strong shehzade. Instead of learning from him to be good son, he was only jealous of the love and support Mehmet had from everyone. As a parent, the only thing worse than losing a child is to be helpless when they're suffering. (It's worse for we mothers IMHO.) I'm experienced both & I wouldn't wish that agony and torment on my worst enemy! P.S. The acting on all sides here is beyond incredible. They deserve any and all possible awards.

I swear that I was crying when Cihangir die ( I really love him as he had a lot of insecurity but he was clever and strong in the same time he is my second favorite sehzade the first in MC is Selim) . But it is good that before he die, Selim and he reconcilied ( too bad he die before he reconcilied with his mother and sister on the other hand it is good that Hurrem didn't assist to his agony). I really feel bad and my hurt bleed for Suleiman, Hurrem , Selim and Bayezid. And that is the moment I think that Hurrem realize the truth that she don't want see first ( but it is understable), one of her son would be on the throne but the others will die.

Why is Cihangir in so much pain now when he usually isn’t in other scenes and places? If his back hurts him a lot all the time, it would seem that he would always be in pain and would be in pain most of the time during his life. But here, we see him completely incapacitated from pain…and from where? Is this from his back? And why is it hurting him so badly now all of a sudden?
