When I was pregnant with our first child, Jonathan Schell's book, the Fate of the Earth, was serialized in the New Yorker. It left me visualizing our imagined child bursting into flames, as the Japanese children did as they ran in Hiroshima. Since then, I have read many accounts from survivors . Is it more horrible than children starving in Sudan, or the cruelties described in Cracking India, the narrative of India's partition into Muslim and Hindu? Or what is happening now in so many corners of our world? Maybe in scope, but not in essence. Harrari is right: we are a killer species. Fortunately, the Universe will survive us.

You don't get the SAG AFTRA contracts. Whenever a studio hires an A lister, they used to be forced to pay more to all other actors working on the movie. I.e. if you work on a movie with an A lister, the studio is legally obligated to amp up your paycheck. I believe this came up when Tom Cruise and Top Gun were being discussed. You may think this is something you can mock him for, but the truth is he could have just said "Oh but they're already getting paid more by the sheer virtue of being around me!". He didn't though, which meant he believes they're still underpaid, and that he'd take a pay cut over screwing them over any day of the week. I've heard someone say the audio was not great, and that he couldn't be sure what the actor just said. But my main concern is that those with small bladders may find 3 hours a challenge. I'll be sure to be parched before going to the theatre, and then only take spirits and sips of water during. I already suspect the streamed version with subtitles will be a great dessert, and I don't mean to suggest this is a deliberate act on the part of the movie maker to supplement the financial side of things.

it is funny they make a big fuzz of this movie (Let be honest) when most of the people dont have a clue who is Oppenheimer especially in USA. Pathetic that American educate themself for the best or the worst via Hollywood. I am always suspicious when a big add campaign is made about a movie. this is a red flag for the movie quality. will see. The movie "The Power of the Dog" went through the same fuzz. but at the end the movie is was just ok ( boring and bad editing story line)

That's an "A" she's saying at 9 seconds, so it comes out as Ahh-ppenheimer. Try it on 0.25 x speed and you'll hear it the moreso. Likewise at the start. There are Yankccents that do it more, but she's definitely got some "A" letter pronounced in that instead of the "O" letter for Oppenheimer. Not mocking her voice. It's simply true is all. It's really rather remarkable how yanks pretty much cannot hear it. They're totally doing it. Come on guys. That's an "A". They're sort of _"auditorily colourblind"_ to the letter "A" and "O". Would also like to point out that variety of anglosphere accents around the world are a nice thing. So it's fine, really. Still though, come on: That's an "A". As an aside, some yanks swap their "S" and "Z" letters like how they really go to town with that "S" in "diagnosed", so it's like "diagno ssss ed". Brits say "nose" like a "z" for "diagnosed". So basically yanks sound like they have varying degrees of a cold _(depending on dialects and so forth)._ The word "diagnosed" is a suitable example, thereby. As for the "Ahh" for letter "A" where there is an "O", it sounds like a doctor has a stick on their tongue to instruct them to "Say ahh" when checking for signs of that cold. There might be a false positive here and there when reading Snellen eye charts too over the years in Yankland. My comment has no hate in it and I do no harm. I am not appalled or afraid, boasting or envying or complaining... Just saying. Psalms23: Giving thanks and praise to the Lord and peace and love. Also, I'd say Matthew6.

Oppenheimer was very good, but it was a bit difficult to follow because it constantly switched back and forth from earlier to later times, and this was confusing. Also, I felt that the last third of the film, after the successful A-bomb test, was a bit overlong; instead of an hour, it could have easily been condensed to a half hour and still have been just as effective--if not more so. Still, though, a great, powerful movie. (One note about this interview, not the film: Cillian Murphy needs to learn to STOP speaking with his hand in front of his mouth. This habit is INCREDIBLY annoying. Unfortunately, a lot of people do it.)

Great story, great man, great cast, with a great director who managed to FLOP. With an incessant overbearingly loud sound track and a full 1/2 (1.5 hours) dedicated to RJO's security clearance. I doubt the critic's will admit this movie is a flop; Hollywood is in dire need of money. Flop, flop; fizz fizz oh what a relief it was to walk out on this movie after a grueling 2.5 hours. I just left the theater and was totally underwhelmed, and near deafened by the overly loud bursts of sound that ot times seemed unconnected to the action. They made a mistake casting Cillian Murphy in the Role of Oppenheimer. He made a great Irish gangster, but not a believable physicist. Too much syrupy mush with his women and not enough technology. Not that the average American public would understand that stuff anyway. I consider this a muddled up "chick flick". I worked in the Nuclear Weapons field for 20 years with a TSBI CNWDI and the movie did nothing for me but wate $11.50.USD
