Maritime archaeologists Claudio Fadda and Marta Laureanti illustrate the "Project Burch " made possible thanks to the collaboration with the association Open Canoes Open Mind and technical support of Julius and Paul Ordigoni ( photos and aerial photography ) , and Matthew and MorenoZanatta ( relief and georeferencing ).
The site of "Cimitero dei burci" has been preliminary studied in 2014-15 , leading to the census of 19 wrecks , different types of traditional boats . Up to the present moment the oldest wreck of the cemetery is dated to 1937 , but the river Sile could reserve more ancient wrecks . "Progetto Burci "will continue the investigation on the River Sile with the support of the University of Southampton , Department of Maritime Archaeology under the scientific supervision of Professors Julian Whitewright and Fraser Sturt .
